I dumped about an entire turret full of ammo into him and he just decided to blow me up afterwards.
Snipe him in the mouth when shouts (1 shot kill). Explosives are their big weakness though. Stick a grenade or 2 on them, shoot them with boomshot/digger/torque bow. All worked wonders for me in campaign anyway.

They don't seem to like the Scorcher either. Just found that out.
Grenades/Torque is much better though.

Totally man, totally.
Right after I unlock it
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
Mhm.. btw, it feels like the campaign would lose A LOT of its weight if you haven't read the books, theres a lot of characters that have never been seen before in the video games, that actually played huge roles in the books( Bernie, Sam, Trescu etc.)
I haven't read the books, I'll let you know how I feel about the campaign once I finish
I tried some TDM last night, and I appear to be just as poor in it as I was in the beta. I really don't know why I am bad at it, as I always do well in Halo and Space Marine, and this game isn't THAT much different.
Ok, maybe people rolling up on my face with the DBS doesn't help. I started using the DBS because I kept dying to it, and man, that gun... why Epic, why. I just laugh when I get kills with it, you don't even have to aim. Get close, make sure they are in front of you, they die.
I love the Hammerburst in campaign and horde, but I just can't seem to get it to work as well in versus, it just seems like it takes a ton of shots to down someone (even though I know it only takes 6), and the Lancer just seems to work better simply because its clip goes on forever.
Even though they buffed rifles in this game, it still doesn't feel like they are powerful enough to compare to the shotties, but I know that's what GoW is all about, so its fine... just maybe not my preference, lol. Maybe I should start trying to use the retro to stop all these shotty scrubs.
I enjoyed the campaign, although boy was it short! ~6 hours i'd guess. I think i could possibly finish it on Hardcore but some parts could get mighty frustrating. They broke up the pacing really well though.
One thing for the experts, how do you kill those giant lambent snail men without expending hundreds of bullets?

It took me near 10 hours (on hardcore) I find under 6 HIGHLY unlikely...
And ehm, explosives?

Bolded for emphasis; he didn't do it on Hardcore to start with, but said he might be able to with some bits.
Don't worry, Sol, you're still the king of completing games super-fast on top level difficulty
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Oh, I don't actually care about that. My point is, a 4 hour difference between difficulties seems very unlikely. Though I did do act 1-4 with a (Noob) buddy...
May have been as much as 7.5 but that is timewise the max it could have been. I started playing after 5 yesterday, put in another hour and a half today.

Take into account the fact on hardcore you have to take alot more cover, (i would imagine) i run and gunned most my way through it. The bolter pistol and retro made this a valid option imo.

GoW 2 had an end boss?

I enjoyed the last battle, but not the ending. (also, gametime on normal was 8 hours for me)
Spoiler:
I was pissed off when all the Locust and the Queen die. Really pissed off, I wanted them to live. Queen Myrrah was probably my favourite character (the Locust rock).

It was kinda stupid how she was screaming HUBRIS! and Adam's ARROGANCE etc, and then her being so "arrogant" meant she definately died, instead of "maybe, just maybe not die". Ah well.

If the locust hadnt insisted on wiping out humanity just enslaving them, they might have deserved to live. Saying that I still think it was a bit harsh wiping them out, they should have been allowed to go underground
Ive been playing a bit (by a bit i mean 'a bit of an unhealthy session', (days off ) )of the multiplayer; Anyone else noticed the prevalance of Butt-frakking quitters? A guy dies once in horde/beast and he quits.
Mary Sue wrote: Perkustin is even more awesome than me!
Only played 3 games of hordes, and only had 1 guy quit. However, I expect to see many more.
I just had to quit a game as my controller went funny, but that's about it.
Not really sure which I prefer, Horde or Beast. I mean, it's fun making those crap dakka turrets and blazing away at someone at point blank and still managing to miss half the shots , but Kantus Priests!

Watched a video where some right arse was using it, seriously he was good at abusing the retro and the DBS, but he was also a gak to his own team. One of his had just been downed by a COG, and he killed the COG, teabagged the downed Drone and then ran off to leave him to bleed out.

When I say DBS I mean double-barreled shotgun, also its known as the SOS, sawed-off shotgun.
Finished the campaign...
Spoiler:
WHY DOM!? WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST SHOOT THE TANK?!
Also, Marcus' father turning to dust before his eyes was pretty intense. I really enjoyed the campaign as a whole, I think Reach hit me a little harder though; but maybe that is because its just really dark. Halo 3 you lose a lot of people that have been around forever, but I haven't played it in a bit; I imagine its pretty strong as well.
Overall very pleased with the game so far, except for the aforementioned DBS/SOS
