Magnus, Sanguinus, or Angron stand the best chance assuming no teamups/preferred enemies. Magnus has obscene psychic strength and was easily superior to Russ in their fight. Sanguinus has some pretty ridiculous feats and was generally considered one of the top Primarchs. Angron is up there with Sanguinus as one of the best close-combat characters, and he would definitely feel the most at home in this sort of conflict.
Alpharius and Omegon have two bodies, but they have very few combat feats, are the smallest Primarchs, and focus their strategies on subterfuge and infiltration, so I don't think they'll be at an advantage.

Yeah this never happened, lol. Leman Russ was immediately knocked out by the Emperor when the Emperor was done testing him. For the record, Ferrus Manus also fought the Emperor when they met. He also wasn't knocked out.

When is this ever stated? Who in the Imperium besides the Emperor was a stronger psyker than Magnus the Red? Malcador definitely wasn't, he was the Emperor's poor back-up choice for sitting on the Golden Throne. The original choice was Magnus.
Magnus the Red has the best chance IMO, able to fight and dominate Leman Russ while also holding off his Legion from attacking his sons and destroying the surface of Prospero. His strength and martial skill were great, but his massive psychic power is what really makes him the best choice.
Though, if not him, Sanguinius, Horus, Angron, Leman Russ, the Lion, these are some who could quite possibly win as well, being better than most of their brothers in combat.
I agree completely. If it were martial combat only however, I would reckon it would be Sanguinius, because he was just a BOSS!

Leman Russ (I'd love to vote RG, but I see a brawler who can shrug off psykers and can get almost as animalistic as Angron, but not lose his intellect, as the winner).
The duelists just don't do well in a battle royale.
Regardless Lorgar wets his pants and rocks back and forth in the corner and everyone forgets to even invite Vulcan

Ferrus Manus. Were it not for the fact Fulgrim had Slaanesh's powers on his side in that fight, Ferrus would have destroyed him. That being said, he could probably keep it up, if he chose his battles correctly, which I would totally expect him to do, as he wasn't a complete idiot.

He got mushed by Magnus, winning due to lick or Tzeentch trickery. He's outclassed by Corax, Kurze, Sanguinus, Horus and Angron.

In a duel, I'd maybe agree... but we have that battle from a biased 1K sons point of view, with LR having fought a long and very intense battle while Magnus sat in his tower being pensive. As to how/why he's outclassed by the others... I'm not sure where that comes from. But again, we're talking a general brawl... not a duel.

I'm certain is wasn't a biased view. Magnus had to face Russ, his two wolves, stopped his Legion from crossing this random river, whilst preparing to teleport the survivors into the Eye of Terror, and he still dominated until luck intervened. Russ is no pushover, I'd certainly pace him above the likes of Ferrus and Fulgrim, but he was on par with the Lion. I can't remember the exact reasoning, it went along the lines of him being equal to the Lion who was bested by Kurze, who said only Sanguinus could beat him, and only perhaps Sanguinus or Horus could best Angron.
I wouldn't take the statements of the Primarchs as definitive proof honestly.
Magnus for instance was completely confident he was in fact more powerful than his father, and had total mastery of the Warp.
He was wrong, definitely on the second point, very probably on the first.
Dorn also apparently though he could kick any of his brother's asses. Curze sat on his chest after crushing him. Admittedly IIRC this was a sneak attack though.
Also, didn't the Lion essentially dominate the fight, when using a sword, his favorite weapon, and Curze only gained the upper hand when it degenerated into a brawl? That doesn't necessarily mean the Lion was inferior to Curze, only that they excelled in different areas of combat.
This is different from when Magnus fought Leman Russ, by all standards Magnus was dominating Russ before the lucky/fated blow to the eye, even while also essentially attacking his entire Legion, while destroying the surface of Prospero and preparing his spell to transport the Sons, as you said.
But yeah, would not say Russ is better than Sanguinius or Horus, or maybe Angron (Who mostly gets his status from hype, honestly).
