I love theme lists like this... and a civil war theme makes me miss playing Fire and Fury. I have a WWII marine themed list in mind based off of 'The Pacific' that I would like to make up and play sometime.

Griffons are still tanks and the rest of the IG Arty looks more WWI-ish to me. You can easily drop them to keep the all infantry theme.

As for special weapons, I honestly would use melta guns as shotguns, specially since they are assault weapons. Think of them as using slugs. Consider plasmas as carbines... I have a suggestion for your vets for this later.

I would rather have ACs over Missile Launchers, because I see the two best guard heavy weapons are LCs and ACs. To bad Guard don't have assault cannons so you could do gatling gun conversions... might be able to pass of heavy bolters as gatling guns. Mortors are indeed kinda eh.

For your theme, I would give your PCS standards too. Since they lead from the front, maybe a medic and 2 melta guns. Normally I don't suggest medics and having the PCS up front, but the Medic might keep it alive alittle longer.

As for your CCS, I honestly suggest two CCSs over the Lord. You just have way to much artillery (HWSs) for a lone Lord Commissar to cover. I wouldn't bother buying a Creed fig, as you can make any commander fig 'Creed'. Your going to be kinda convering these guys anyways. I /would/ add Kell to the list though, to Creed's CCS. For the other you could make it Stracken to run with your blobs and use Creed to sit back and issue Orders to the HWSs. Look at bodyguards for Straken, give Creed advisors, specially a Officer of the Fleet and a Master of Ordnance. If you have the points, medic but I would go plasma on Creed and melta on Straken. Remember Creed's 'Tactical Genius' ability. If you decide to use a second blob for it (specially if you run Al'Rahim), then go back to the Lord Commissar and only have 5 HWSs.

For your troops, power weapons on everyone that can have one, melta bombs, melta guns. I would seriously look at a 3rd Platoon and Al'Rahim. No HWSs or special weapon squads for Al's platoon.

Vets you can do dismounted Cav, giving them 'carbines' (plasma guns) and a plasma pistol. Bastonne might be a neat addition to a vet squad. They can also be 'raiders' with assault shotguns and 3 meltas. Could also do Harker and his captured 'Gatling gun' (Heavy bolter?). Then throw in a second captured gatling gun (HB HWT) to his unit.

I personally do not have a problem with the SWSs being your snipers/marksmen. They can be a great point filler. Can also do 'sappers' with Demo charges too.

Personally, I love Rough Riders, specially since I have the /old/ charge of the light brigade riders and not the horrid mongolian ones. 10 man squads will destroy any troops, but I would consider a melta gun. If you keep the 'carbine' twist, give two plasma and the sergeant a power weapon. The equipment you give them will define their role after their first charge. Melta guns means they can hunt vehicles, a power sword helps to keep them as a assault unit, plasma means they can move around and do harrasment fire (and Str 7 for rear armor shots).

Man... I didn't even fit in the Rough Riders! If you drop 2 PIS from the outflankers, would give you 150pts to pay for two squads. If you drop the medics for melta guns, would give you an extra 60pts. Then you could have 2 10 man rough rider units. *done*

Still tweaking some, but I love you guys' ideas.
I did get rid of the griffons and replaced them with a Krieg heavy mortar battery. Cheaper point wise too, but longer range, can re-roll scatter, and immobile. Thinking I'm gona use this as the model for it.

Just so your aware, if you want to play in most tourneys, they do not recognise FW rules. I don't know if this will change your mind any, but wanted to give you a head's up. If it is friendly games, just let your buddies know.

This is a very interesting and unique list, its a good idea having the missile launchers on wheels.

After learning to not be an idiot, I figured out what a P&M blog was, so yes, I will start one of those shortly. I'm heading home for 2 weeks (brother is deploying to Afghanistan soon, so he will be home on leave. Wish him well, he's a fellow 40K player and a badass Marine to boot), and will be preceded by about $450 worth of bitz and kits. I was thinking about using the Forge World Death Korps of Kreig rules for the ordnance battery (similar to the heavy mortar battery) and converting a 100pdr Parrott gun into an Earthshaker cannon.

On your Creed CCS, your numbers of special slots look off. Kell /is/ the Standard so you don't have to list it a second time. He still takes up a special weapon slot, so you can only have 3x Special weapons, not 4.

There are two CCS there at the bottom (an alternative to 1 CCS and 1 Lord Commisar): one a "Brigade Level" with Creed and Kell, and another just for the company that has another regimental flag. So technically I would have two regimental flags, one in each CCS. But you're right, I do have to pull a GL out of the second CCS.
