He's been out there once or twice... I don't think I have the money to travel to Cons... Or I'd be there in a heartbeat, as its 1 tank of gas (40 bucks at current prices) from Cleveland to Lombard, IL...

I was thinking of heading to Mikhaila's event in January, but I think Adepticon might be nicer to go to...

The way I've always been told to make the Trollpack better: Replace pMaddy with Angus. He makes the 2 impalers significantly better.

Things to make the Troll pack better:

Mauler/Axer

Axer/Impaler/Pyre

pDoomie/Blitzer (or Mauler)/Earthborn

pDoomie/Axer/Impaler/Slag

The big problem with the troll pack as-is is not necessarily that there is no heavy, it's that it is pillow-fisted. POW13-15 and a 5 Fury warlock is simply not enough to get the job done against warcasters camping their focus. Swapping an Impaler for a Slag or Pyre not only provides the much-needed damage buff, it also diversifies the battlegroup and provides a novel shooting ability (fire or 3 dice versus jacks).

Or pDoomshaper. Fortune on an Impaler? Fortune on the Axer? Either one upkept at no cost through Great Power? It gets silly fast.

I went from pMadrak to pDoomy, then tried all the other 'locks for a game or two, then Borka and I started what can only be described as a life-long love affair. He plays Hordes the way I play Hordes, and I've never looked back.

Impalers in the warpack are very situational. If you started with a Mauler then its animus would at least make the Impaler do decent damage against heavies. ( and make Madrak even more awesome )


As it stands you've got 2 shots a turn ( 1 per Impaler ) to score a critical hit on a model. The chances of succeeding aren't nearly high enough to rely on it as tactical foundation.



It's more or less a fact that the Troll warpack is the least optimized of them all. Impalers are fun when they work, but they are very hit and miss. Mostly they serve as animus slaves.
