Dr. Cornel West is a comedian?

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I know nothing of politics, and I don't want to. So instead, I'll take the average teenage response, and say "Burn it to the ground, it's rotten anyways,"

Ah the system (all of them), you never fail to fail.

That's just bs. They don't pay taxes because they earn so little that taking federal taxes from them would leave them below the poverty line. That 47% are the unemployed, the underemployed, the retired, the disabled, and so on.

There is a question to be answered, and it's why so many American families earn so little that you can't take money from without leaving them incapable of supporting themselves. But that question doesn't play in to the bitter game of resentment so many people like to play.

The game is stacked in favor of getting more people to vote for a system that provides them benefit by force of law.

If that were true, we'd be witnessing a trend towards increasing wage equality. We aren't, which means your theory is absolute crap.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Dunno, it fits in to my game of bitterness to be sure, but then again I'm more bitter at the fact that political seats are often bought with campaign finance donations than "OMG THE SOCIALISTS ARE DESTROYING EVERYTHING!", as if we ever had socialists with any real power over this country.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Would I get bonus points if I spammed Youtube videos from Max Hedroom? I'm pretty sure I could find one that fits...

http://current.com/shows/countdown/videos/occupy-oakland-keith-shannon-on-injured-iraq-veteran-scott-olsen
Keith Shannon, the roommate of injured Occupy Oakland protester Scott Olsen and a fellow Iraq War veteran, shares what happened Tuesday night when the Oakland Police Department fired upon the crowd with rubber bullets, bean bags and tear-gas canisters, one of which gave Olsen a skull fracture and trip to the emergency room. Shannon, himself a vocal protester, provides an update on Olsen’s condition — saying Olsen is “stable, but critical” — and says the incident has only bolstered his resolve to continue working for the movement.

http://current.com/shows/countdown/videos/keiths-special-comment-oakland-mayor-jean-quan-must-repent-or-resign
In tonight’s Special Comment, Keith calls out Jean Quan, mayor of Oakland, for her use of 500 police officers in a pre-dawn raid Tuesday morning, followed by more tear-gas bombs, rubber bullets and bean-bag rounds on Tuesday night. Quan, herself once a victim of the Oakland police’s bullying, now “is the bully,” Keith says. He calls on Quan to dismiss acting Police Chief Howard Jordan and allow protesters to return to their location, “or, having betrayed everything she’d supported and all those who have supported her, she must resign.”

Really? You don't say?

And here I thought the state existed to exploit its citizens, and other interested parties.
