I would not say WHFB really has 'poster boys' maybe Empire or Warriors of Chaos, possibly Elves but I would not say that the game has poster boys.

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.

i would Say Dwarves and WoC.
And its funny how half the posts are "These are bought the most" this is not about popularity of Armies in general. its about an army that is Distinctively WHFB. Dwarves have alot in the Books and the WoC are very Distinct.

and a note to the Beastman Book, Dwarves are the same. our battles are shown with Greenskins.

The closest thing to a "poster child" in WHFB is probably the Empire because they have all their stuff in plastic already. Other than that, I don't know. I haven't seen any army being the favorite go-to one the way Space Marines are in 40k. Fantasy players are generally a lot more diverse in their army selection.

I personally think it is Bretonnia or High Elves.

First thing that comes to mind when I think of WHFB, is Harry the Hammer. But, then again, I'm partial to WoC

In Fantasy there is nothing coming near the poster boy role of Space Marines in 40k.
We might argue whether one fraction at a given time has a certain advantage, but it is not like half the releases are of just one fraction and every other fraction is nerfed into the dust ruleswise.

its more even. No real poster boys.

Although I think this picture sums it up.

The closest thing they have is WoC, and only by a narrow margin. WHFB has a much more evenly distributed playerbase than 40k, which might be part of the reason that the game is dying. They lack the super definitive faction, where as 40k is pretty much marines vs. !marines. Of course it could also be an advantage since you don't see half the field playing the same faction or a derivation there of.

The fact there's several kinds actually supports his statement.
See 40k Marines.

Apologies in advance if that was sacrcasm/irony or some other internet cool I'm not up to speed with but if not Wikipedia is your friend:

"During the 1980s, a Thrud comic strip was a regular and popular feature in the roleplay and wargame magazine White Dwarf with Thrud's grotesque and comic antics forming a memorable part of the magazine's golden age"

"During this time, the black-and-white single-page strip was voted "Most popular feature" for three consecutive years."

....Careful or you'll get me mumbling about the yoof of today!!
