I graduated in December 09 with a Bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies from SUNY (State University of New York) Albany in, appropriately, Albany, NY. Unfortunately, I switched to that major half way through, and while I got to study abroad in Japan for a semester, I only wound up with a year and a half of Japanese so I can't speak enough for it to be really useful.

The degree really hasn't done anything for me at all, so now I'm considering going to UCLA Law School or studying economics at a CSU school.

Not to sound like a know it all or what have you. Ever thought maybe with your all degree or degrees is to step out the box...and apply for a security clearence. Would not believe how many doors that will open up for you all....(form is a SF86)....Would not believe how many federal contract companies deem that highest hiring point besides a degree. Starting is GS11 around 80K...

I can get routers and stuff up relatively quickly, yet I'm bored of it.

I asked my Dad's computer guy what he would go back to school for and he said software design/programming. He said IT/network guys are the serfs, software guys are at least princes if not kings. At least 1000 apps come out every day it seems.

New Jersey

At Rutgers New Brunswick studying the following:

Double Major in Asian Studies & Languages with a focus on Chinese and Chinese History (mid to late Imperial era, big emphasis on Song Dynasty) There's also some Japanese and Japanese History there.

Second Major is Philosophy, which I'm a little embarassed to say I don't have quite that much direction in. Maybe I like ethics? Maybe epistemology? I'll probabaly end up doing some sort of cross-cultural study and throw in my Asian Studies expertise in. The thing is I prefer Western philosophy to Eastern. Though anything that has to do with Confucius and Mencius is pretty boss.

I think I'm going to teach in some capacity, whether it be a professorship program, history, philosophy, who knows.

Isn't a large portion of software development outsourced?

Associate's in software programming, then I switched gears and I'm finishing off an associate's in respiratory therapy this January.
