Because that's totes a relevant question. We all know poor women can't be sexually harassed. I hope they also asked what she was wearing, because we all know most women who are sexually assaulted bring it on themselves somehow, right?

Cain scandal has name and face after woman alleges he lunged at her in car

WASHINGTON - The sexual harassment scandal plaguing Herman Cain suddenly had a name and a face Monday as a poised Chicago woman emerged to accuse the Republican presidential hopeful of making aggressive sexual advances at her when she approached him for career advice.

Sharon Bialek is the first of four accusers to provide public details of the sexual harassment allegations that have rocked the one-time pizza magnate's campaign for president.

"He suddenly reached over and put his hand on my leg, under my skirt and reached for my genitals," Bialek told a packed Manhattan news conference, high-powered celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred by her side.

The alleged incident occurred in a parked car in 1997, after Bialek travelled to the U.S. capital to ask Cain about getting her old job back at the National Restaurant Association. Cain headed the trade group at the time.

When she asked him what he was doing, Bialek quoted Cain as saying: "You want a job, don't you?" She said Cain backed off when she told him to stop.

Cain's campaign issued a statement even before the news conference had ended to deny Bialek's allegations, which Allred described as his attempt to provide Bialek "his idea of a stimulus package."

"All allegations of harassment against Mr. Cain are completely false," the release said.

"Mr. Cain has never harassed anyone. Fortunately the American people will not allow Mr. Cain's bold 9-9-9 plan, clear foreign policy vision and plans for energy independence to be overshadowed by these bogus attacks."

Bialek, a registered Republican, said she failed to come forward earlier because she was so embarrassed about what had happened. She's doing so now, she said, "to give a face to those women who cannot."

Two women filed complaints of sexual harassment against Cain while he was at the restaurant association. Joel Bennett, the lawyer for one of them, says the alleged harassment against his client "involved multiple incidents over multiple days."

He added in an interview with NPR on Monday he was "comforted" to see someone else come forward to "corroborate the kind of conduct we're talking about."

The Associated Press, meantime, has reported similar accusations from a third woman who worked at the trade group. That woman says she didn't file a complaint because one of her co-workers had already done so.

Bialek urged Cain to confess his alleged sins.

"I want you to come clean, Mr. Cain," she said. "Just admit what you did. Admit you were inappropriate to people ... and then move forward."

So far, the allegations haven't caused Cain any significant damage. His campaign has raised more than $1 million since the story broke on the news website Politico.com, and a USA Today poll released Monday still has him at 21 per cent among Republican primary voters, tied with Mitt Romney.

The survey was conducted after the allegations surfaced last week. But it wasn't entirely devoid of danger signs for Cain.

The majority of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents told pollsters they wouldn't vote for a candidate who was proven to have sexually harassed employees.

Jack Pitney, a one-time Republican congressional aide who now teaches politics at Claremont McKenna College in California, said Cain's troubles are far from over.

"Until now, his defenders have been able to say the complaints against him were anonymous and vague, and now they come from a named source and they're extremely specific and graphic," he said.

"That's an entirely different situation and it puts Cain at much greater risk."

There's little doubt reporters at America's notorious tabloids, in particular the National Enquirer, are working night and day to dig up lewd new details, Pitney added. The Enquirer almost singlehandedly ended the career of John Edwards, one-time Democratic presidential hopeful who fathered an extramarital child while his wife of decades battled cancer.

"If I were in Herman Cain's camp right now, I'd be looking very nervously at the supermarket checkout aisle," Pitney said.

And his other legal troubles haven't gone away either. When you habitually do bad things they often come back to bite you.

The Koch-Cain Connection: IRS Urged To Probe Ties Between Cain Campaign and Billionaire Koch Brothers

The campaign of Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain took another hit on Monday when a fourth woman emerged to accuse him of sexual harassment in the 1990s. But the allegations of sexual harassment are not the only controversies surrounding Cain. Also on Monday, the Wisconsin-based Center for Media and Democracy filed a complaint asking the Internal Revenue Service to investigate whether one of his top aides has used tens of thousands of dollars from a tax-exempt non-profit organization to fund Cain’s political activities. Citing leaked financial records, the Center says Cain’s campaign manager, Mark Block, used at least $40,000 dollars from his group, Prosperity USA, to pay for Cain’s private jets, air travel and computers when he was exploring a presidential bid. Block founded Prosperity USA just last year. The leaked records cited in the complaint also suggest extensive financial ties between Block’s Prosperity USA, the Cain campaign, and the right-wing advocacy group founded by the billionaire David Koch, Americans for Prosperity. Block stepped down from heading the Wisconsin arm of "Americans for Prosperity" to run Cain’s campaign. We speak with Lisa Graves, executive director of the Center for Media and Democracy, about its request that the IRS to investigate the group’s tax-exempt status, and other ways Block may have been funneling money to political campaigns.

Eh. No party will ever seriously investigate fundraising improprieties since they both benefit greatly from them.
