I play with resin bases quite a bit, and have never cared enough to notice if I'm giving an advantage to my opponent, the bases look great!

If GW got rid of TLOS and had models of various base sizes be considered to occupy a set volume of space then the actual pose/stance/basing of a models would be irrelevant.
This would accomplish a number of things:
1. eliminate TLOS sighting issues ("I can see him"..."no you can't" and endless cover debates)
2. Encourage more creative basing/converting
3. Eliminate the ability of mucnkins to model for advantage
makes too much sense however, so carry on...
2.
Play Warmachine.
Yes PP got this right, no doubt having seen the sillyness in 40k that TLOS encourages...

One thing that puts me off however, is that they look relatively "thicker" than regular bases. This, as many may know, provides a distinct line-of-sight related disadvantage. Its fairly marginal, but when its across the whole army, it kind of adds up.
A really easy fix.
If you're worried about the height and its a resin base and not just a resin base topper simply put it on a sheet of sandpaper and rub it back and forth until it's the same height as a standard base.
Just do it outside and wear a dust mask and you'll be fine.
If it's a base topper, just do the same thing but sand the bottom of the slotta down until you get the right height.

I've just started using resin bases for my 2000 in 20 days Dark Eldar project, I'm 8 days in and i'm close to having them done now
My resin bases are great they've made life easier and dont seem that tall
A bit of drybrushing on the bases and they look like this
I decided to put snow on later and I'm pretty pleased

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

Not that beardy at all, really. At best, you have a slightly improved chance of being in cover (in an edition of the game that makes it very easy to be in cover anyway) at the expense of not being able to shoot due to not being able to see most of your potential targets due to every single terrain piece on the board completely blocking your LOS.

Wat? Really?
No. Those guys that killed Warmachine in Frederick Md. made the worst of the local " 40K That Guy" look tame.
He's just talking about bases and how game rules handle the bases.
