While the vast majority of my building/painting/musing about wargames is focused on 40k, I've barely played, at all, and even that was some time ago. I get a batch of small Infinity games out of my girlfriend once every few months, but I doubt that brings me over the five a year mark (well, maybe by number of games, but not by play sessions - an hour of play is an hour of play, whether you finish one game or five).

Frequency has picked up lately, though, thanks to the arrival of a copy of Dwarf King's Hold: Dead Rising. Seems that even more than preferring skirmish games over larger battles (Infinity > 40k), she likes simplified mechanics and streamlined play over flexibility/variety (DKH or D&D boardgames > Infinity).

I've been meaning to start playing at the LGS, but my work schedule varies from week to week, as does the timing of her experiments (she's a mad scientist in training, i.e. grad student), and the two never seem to line up neatly. With only one car between us, scheduling regular gaming time isn't as practical as I'd like. Perhaps once I land a regular 9-5...

I used to play every weekend but since I started working weekends I rarely get to play. Its a cruel irony that when I have to money to buy New models I can't use them

Barely, if at all! I answered 1-5 times a year, which is probably about right for me.

Hey Folks,
Thanks for all your responses and votes. According to the poll so far 59% of dakkaites (assuming the sample is representative) game every other week or more!

I think this a very good reflection on Dakka users. Sometimes those who post actively on internet gaming sites are assumed to be not active wargamers, but if the poll is correct, nearly 2/3 of us are getting in a game every other week or more.

Well done Dakka!

Sitting on the roof of my house with a shotgun, and a six pack of beers

I go to a group once a week however once every two weeks it RPG so I put 2 to 3 times a month.

However if you took into account the whole time i've been gaming it would probably be more like once a month.

PM me and ask me about Warpath Wargames Norwich or send me an email

I wish I played a lot more but my new job's hours are terrible and the local gaming clubs are pretty incestuous so only play with my two friends regularly and try and get a game out of others, rarely do the local tournaments anymore as the local independent store is a bit rubbish for tables.

1-5 times a year sounds about right.

I haven't played a game since...July? Oh man, that bums me out

Most people around me switched to Warmachine/Hordes, but the FLGS is picking 40K nights back up

Starting December I have been playing Regularly, prior to that, I almost never played due to lack of transport and a varied work schedule (one day when I land that 9-5 gig....)

I play 40k and magic about two days a month, every other Saturday.

40k from about 10AM until about 6PM, magic from about 6pm until about 9PM.

Most of the 40k players around here have been picking up Warmahordes for a while, but more of them have been bringing their 40k stuff (or said they would) since the group is getting some new life in it (in the form of two 4th edition codexes they never see in battle around here, both wielded by the man with the Fishy Sticks. )

right now i get to game at best a couple times during the year, working nights and pulling an unpleasant amount of unplanned overtime kinda kills getting to get out to game.
i've learned to enjoy modeling and painting a good deal more because of it thought

3-4 times a month, When my friends and I find a couple of hour in ours schedules, we crack open the cases and play a game or two. We also try to enter the team tournaments at our local store whenever they pop up.

I typically get 3 games in a month... I wish I could get more in tho honestly but my friends and I have different work schedules so we only get to play when the days off coincide

When your wife suggests roleplay as a result of your table top gaming... life just seems right

I took my wife thru the BRB for fantasy and 40k, the first thing she said was "AWESOME"... codex: Chaos Daemons Nurgle..... to all those who says God aint real....

Every Thursday is Warmachine day at one of my FLGS. Another store does Warmachine once a month on Sundays and people meet up randomly at other times to play, though I generally just show up on the scheduled day.

So, ever so slightly more than once a week for me.

Tuesday is our gaming group Malifaux day of choice, but most sundays we will slip in an extra day of gaming, because we love it that much!

Doesnt leave much time for painting though - what with jobs and real life stuff taking up a large portion of time.

Tacticool always trumps tactics
