how long did that one take you?

Cheers DeathRex
I dip in & out of models but if I had to guess probably no more then 10 hours.
One of the hardest parts was the light-coloured weaterhing powders - whenever I put the MIG pigment on them, they seem to disappear. The odd thing is that the darker pigments are ok.
Wierd or what!
Anyone else have the same issues? If 'yes', how did you get round it??

Thanks again for the comment!

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

The photos make it look like its thick... it is not... I thin them down. I do not have the hang of making the pictures look good.

Nice big pics HONAW. I can see exactly what the issue is. You're suffering from 'chalkiness' which is down to the number of mixes you're applying. Too much contrast leaves little bits of the differing pigments settling into spots (which make it look rough, even though it isn't). Two ways to approach it; one is to build up the highlight through several mixes before trying to put a very sharp end highlight on. The other (which I prefer 9 times out of 10 as it's faster) is to put a fairly wide highlight on in a bright highlight, then tone it back by glazing over it with mixes toward the base colour (so you shade it back). This is usually quicker as you can take advantage of layering to soften that first highlight into what *looks* like a good blend.

Ah..... It is smooth....but the pictures are really ruining it. I am having trouble with getting the photo to show that the model is actually smooth.

There's some really lovely painted minis in this thread.

Not as epic as some of the others but here's my Emperor's Children Sorceress.
