Because he's idiot bait. His supporters are going on a purely emotional reaction to his rhetoric. He says something that speaks to their poorly thought out beliefs so they put a sign in their yard, a sticker on their car, and spend all day bombing the comments section of every Yahoo news article with how the bastard is the second coming of Jesus or something.

The moment you start to really ponder what he's advocating you'll recoil in horror. If you don't, well then you probably shouldn't be voting. Period.

I know he's a states rights guy, and that can look like a Democratic position, but I suspect, based on his personal views, that he would vote against legal abortion (for example).

I know he's a states rights guy, and that can look like a Democratic position, but I suspect, based on his personal views, that he would vote against legal abortion (for example).

Just three off the top of my head.
*Government non intrusion in private life.
*Withdrawing military forces from Iraq and Afghanistan (and well everywhere). A certain current President ran on that.
*No fence on the border.

Now he goes with the Supposed Republican side as well when it comes to lack of government interference and limited government. Of course we both know both parties tend to throw all these out the door almost immediately. .
