Nice tournament. And rerolling with no RRs? [frown]

I have played BBLE extensively and I have never seen the computer taking more assists than they are allowed by rules. Maybe they had Guard, or your tackle zones were affected by Really Stupid or Hypno Gaze?

I can take a snap shot if you want, but several people at the tourney confirmed that it made the same error. Guys, even lineman, on the opposing team always impose a -1 Str penalty on the Blocker even if they have another enemy in their tackle zones. They may have fixed it in an update or something, but it's a pretty big error to begin with.

yes, please send me the snapshot, if you have it.

if it is true, the -1S is also an error, since assists give +1S to the opponent. The -1S could lead to some unintended 3DBlocks.

That's exactly it. There's no such thing as -1S in the LRB, only the +1S to your side.

Got my roster for the new league up! Please check the link as I took a long time to make all the names My first match is Wood Elves that are nearly double my starting value. Ugh. I'm using the Chaos Dwarf list with marauders as hobgoblins, regular centaurs, a minohorse (fiend of slaanesh/horse hybrid) and old school hunching chaos knights as chaos dwarves. Horse-themed mutations will add over time.

Liking the theme.

Instead of Mike the Foalhardy, maybe Mike the Foaler, and give him Foal, i mean Foul the first chance?

Starting Roster:
On the roaster itself, why are you taking Fan Factor? I would bank the amount towards your next CDwarf.

If you want a stronger starting roster (than going for theme and miniatures available) this is what is the recommended starting roster:
1 Bull Centaur
5 Chaos Dwarf Blocker
6 Hobgoblins
4 Rerolls
0 FF

Inducting a Merc Minotaur has nearly no drawback, as it already has Loaner.

Your First Game:
Against the Woodelves you need to take the Stabbing Star. Their Armor 7 will hurt them, and Blodge does nothing against Stab.

Not sure if the Chaos Dwarfs have access to a ChainSaw star. If they do, get him, and a bribe or two. Same concept.
If you go that way, be careful on fielding him when the WE have the ball, they can TD in 1-2 turns at their leisure.
Finally, hate to say this, but I expect the best approach to be a 2-1 grind: let them/force them to score quickly, and equalize in T8. Then take the entire 2nd half to TD at the last possible moment. Dismantling their team in the process with the Stab and Chainsaw

:d I like the team. Chaos Dwarfs are awesome once they get high ranking due to mutations and decent armour on the dwarfs.

Love the stabbing exploit idea! I was already going to take Nobbla, but may take Rashnak instead of Hthark. I was also going to take a wizard and a re-roll, with the thought of a fireball possibly ending a scoring turn early. I have 720k in petty cash.

My roster is locked in already and I know it's probably not ideal, but it's what I want to try for the moment based slightly upon my meta I get one free restart anyway, and I'm in no rush, lol. And the FF gets taken a lot around here for some reason, so a little bit will help, even if just to deny my opponents a little extra. You list sounds a bit more optimized either way.

Game 1 has come and gone. It ended up a 4-0 victory for the woodies >.< I had a couple of minor rule mistakes in this game which threw me off, notwithstanding that I had to go to the bathroom to vomit in the middle of turn 8 (it's never a boring day in my world). Otherwise, he won first kick-off and I deployed my goblin chainsaw-wielder when I really should have waited til I was receiving for obvious reasons. Minotaurs love to do nothing 11 turns of the game, and go for it's will be a 1 roughly half the time, /all that being said, it was fun!

In the positive I perma-killed one of his linemen l I want to take at least one head per team in this league. I also racked up a few good CASes, and when the minotaur swung it was always big. MVP landed on a Chaos Dwarf and the next game I should get another one to boot, so yay! Next game is against this roster:

http://www.dfw.bloodbowlleague.com/default.asp?p=ro&t=waa

Scary! :( Ideas on how to cope? Should have 700k petty to throw around. Hthark and Nobbla and two apothecaries?

Sorry to hear about game 1. I thought I taught you better.

About the chainsaw, did you take any bribes? You really need 1, ideally 2 to make best use of him

For the Next Game a couple of things to consider:

His (her?) team is very lean, and very optimized. I notice that they only have 11 players for next game, INCLUDING the Gobbo. So if you give him ANY CAS, he will play orcs down. (obviously he has the opportunity to buy some more players, he has the money for it, but they will have no skills, will then?).

I would say to concentrate on taking players out:
* Chainsaw and bribes - remember that the chainsaw can also foul, with assists... so you don't have to just blitz with him... which also means you have better chances to break his armor (-3 Chainsaw -1 or 2 for assists gives him an AV of 4-5).
* Claw Minotaur (if you could take a Merc Minotaur and give him a skill).
* Bloodwiser babes. 1 or 2 could really save you, and if he does not have any, even KOs have a big potential to hurt his lineup (no bench).
* Minotaur star - try to use your 2x Frenzy big guys (with +1S on blitz) to engineer some pushes into the stands... the player is then automatically out for the drive, with a chance of being KO/CAS also. Be careful you don't get surfed in return.
* Concentrate on his star players with blocking and fouling: the +AG Blitzer and NOS Thrower. Especially the Thrower does not have Block, and is AV8, so there may be a chance there.

Other thoughts:
* Consider getting the Wizard. The Wizard is a great threat to the Orc cage, especially when they have 5 people in it (or more). A Fireball that hits on a 4+ can down 2-4 people, with Might Blow. And since you can use the Wizard BEFORE your turn, you can blow the cage, and then blitz to get the ball if you knock down some corners.
* Consider another Team RR. You only have 2, and not that many skills (Block on 3 players), so it will hurt if you roll poorly
* Do you guys play with Magic Cards? If yes, one or 2x 50k cards could really throw a monkey wrench in this plan. There is one where everyone gets turned into a Goblin for 1 turn, which could totally mess up with all his Block/Guard, etc. Of course they are random, but them's the breaks.

Final though:

Good stuff. I'm loving that Minotaur hero (the more MB the better), so him and the chainsaw one, Wizard and 2x Babes. Hopefully I can get my tactics up to snuff this time around :d

So I've run a few test games and each one resulted in at least one permadeath for me and a fairly massive loss. Ugh. I'm really going to have to make sure they have to work for the blocks they get and to keep as many of his on the ground (or under it) as I can. I'll likely end up focusing on SPPs and sweet talking the guy into not beating the crap out of me this game Any good tips for formations that allow me to minimize his blocks? Is the idea of a defensive cage terribly ridiculous (the tough guys in front, squishy to support)?

The easiest way to minimize blocks: play the positioning game. Make him get in touch with you, then work on blocking him off you (or dodging away with the AG3 guys, if feasible).

Hobgoblins will die. AB7 is just not that great. AV9 and ThickSkull on Dwarves should mean they will live to play another day.

Consider getting a few mercenaries if you are concerned about the hurt, and throw those guys in harm's way.

Ideally I'll be getting a new CD at the end of this next game to offset any loss I might incur. Being honest, should I even worry about him scoring on me? I'm not sure barring some obscene luck that I even stand a chance.

The rule of thumb is that the inducement system was done to give the underdog a 30% chance of winning, so you always have a chance.

Last season I started a fresh Necro team in a league that had an average TV of 1700, and won it due to some luck and the inducement equalizer.

In the end it is up to you, and how you want to approach it. Think of it as a challenge: you know you are likely to lose, so frustrating his plans, as long as it does not destroy your team is definitely a win. Later in the season once you can get 1-3 Claw on your team he will quake in his boots.

That is the best thing on the internet related to Chaos Dwarves (next to your advice, of course ). Putting on my lucky underwear for sure. Results later!

I was ONE SQUARE away from tying this game (It ended 2-1)! I didn't think I'd do anywhere near as well as I did. Luck was in about equal portions the whole time and that minotaur star player is freaking awesome. Pushing without following up paid off massively. I took a few chances on single dice blocks that were generally inconsequential at the end of turns, and those ended up contributing to slowing him down a bit as well. It was super fun all around, and I can afford another Chaos Dwarf now, with a good chance of adding another next game. My next opponent is Necromantic with 150k team value, and I think I stand a shot of winning as I know that team really well All of my dwarves and my minotaur are due for their first level after next game too. Awesomeness all around. Details of the game to come when I'm not about to crash.

I missed my week 3 game due to an exploding timing belt then we had an off-week. Now I'm fighting Ogres and I intend to peel their layers apart!

...lame I know. I have several guys on the cusp of skilling and I'm going to focus on getting that accomplished with his snotlings. With some luck I'll get my 5th Chaos Dwarf tonight too :d Results to be posted later.

I did what I had planned on. The new roster! I have one more skill-up coming on a Centaur, but he misses next game unfortunately. It's against a high scoring Skaven team so I'm not worried about accruing too many more casualties, just inflicting Only 4 of the guys in my roster aren't AV9 now, so getting close to my Orc list. Two of my CDs have Guard now and I gave my mino +AV (Break Tackle was the only other thing that seemed worth it, couldn't get Block ). Excitement on my part!

could the Mino get Claw, or does he need a double for that?

AV seems like a waste, to be honest. Juggernaught may have been better, since he is Wild Animal AND Frenzied.

Needs double for claw.
+1 MV would have been better instead of +1 AV. With frenzy you're often forced to make some GFI to throw the 2nd block. I suppose you rolled a 6+4 for the skill, right? With a 5+5 claw would have been definetly better

Believe me, Claw is #1 on the want list, nearly tied with Block I'm more concerned about getting my "basics" out of the way this season, and trying to save money in the process. As it stands now, I can have my entire frontline be filled with AV9, with two guards and 5 Tackles to boot. I'm quite happy with it Any of the games I've done well so far are because my guys stay on the field and theirs don't, so I'm going to go with that and see why you guys were right later on My centaur that's missing next game is about to skill up as well if you want to offer any input. I've been running them as ball carriers and been very happy with that decision, fwiw.

I think that the best first skill for a BC is break tackle. Without that, even a zombie put into contact with the BC can prevent you from moving. With BT you have a ST4, MV9 (almost) which can move around the field, giving assists, protecting your hobbos and so on.
Obviously the 2nd skill can be block and in case of double roll, give dodge
I prefer carrying the ball with a hobbo: picking up the ball with the BC is too risky, expecially against fast teams (elfs and skaven) which can steal you the ball if you miss the pick up. Of course in case of touchback, i give the ball to a BC (possibly with br. tackle) and in case of high kick, i put the bull under the ball, trying to catch it for free.

If I had not bumped my Minotaur's AV, he would have died this game Beyond that, it was really, really messy. Like, really messy. I lost 3 - 0 but I killed at least one of his players and made many miss next game. My star player Minotaur died turn 1, meaning no one in the league can use it anymore. Full write up in a bit.
