My 6 year old daughter just Roflstomped my daemons with Mama's Eldar

She wants her own army, but isn't sure which yet.

Great stuff! I'm loving this blog

The daughter was reading the Codex (big step there) and likes the idea of a buzz saw. Not for actual game play, just, a giant saw on a helicopter. Used a bit from a killer kan in a big bag of bits I picked up recently, it works great. A little bit of cutting on both the Kopta and the mount, and, there it is. Now, almost completely painted, just some touch up and a little more coloring on some bits. The three blade rotor was just a work of need. We had the normal rotor bits, but, they didn't want to mate up easily, so, cut, hack, glue and you see what we came up with. A little bit of plastic I-beam in the middle to glue it to the hub.

The 29 black orcs, the 'ard boy squad. That is going to be alot of painting. Orks in general are alot of painting. You also see two escher models for daddy's IG vet squads. Run Catachans for all vets, and, they fit in well enough. Enjoy the pics.

If you came here today to look at more Orky goodness, well, it was put on hold for a week. Have a tournament this week, battle of the dreadnaughts. So, not alot of new work on Orks, plus, the daughter has been busy with school work. However, I will share the pics of the dreadnaught.

I wanted to build and use a furioso librarian dread, I just thing the model looks good. However, didn't realy want it to be blood angels, see too much of that here. So, started looking at the successor chapters. They all look too alike except for the Lamenters, so, went with that. Yellow is difficult to paint, glad that kit comes with extra parts to practice on. The checkerboard was the first time even trying that. Didn't want to do the checkerboard on the arms/shoulders, so, the banner worked great for that. Those are my salamander veteran vanguard and chaplain with him. Sort of a Death Watch style army I might make up, for kill team games and such.

More orks to come, just be patient.

Back again after a small break. Okay, really not. Had a busy week, and so did the daughter. The Dreadnought Fight Club event is over, took 2nd with that Furioso Librarian Dread. Took out two Bjorn the fell hand and one IronClad. Too bad I didn't get enough other points, dreaded Grey Knights and their rifleman dread with psy ammo. Anyway, back to good Ork business.

These pics are older edition ork boys, going to use them as standard or 'ard boyz, seeing as how they have armor on already. The Nob is actually a runtherder, but, he is larger and doesn't look out of place like that. He is equiped with a boss pole/power claw combo (from the ork riders, fantasy line). Thought it would look a bit different than the normal you see laying around.

Not totally done, do a bit more washing to get the shading down, but, you get the idea. Plus, only 5 of the 29 boyz painted for that mob.

Hello

Been a while since I have posted any progress. Well, the army is almost complete, just a few boys to paint up, Kommandos that we made from the boyz box and a bunch of extra stick bombs laying around in the bits drawer. Needless to say, daughter saw the new ork flyer, and, I liked it to. So, here are the pics of the work in progress. Battle wagon there for comparison of what the other vehicle in the army looks like.

Just to update model count:

18 Gretchen
1 Runt herder

My House

That looks nice and crisp, are you going to put any weathering on it?

DEAR SHOE,

THAT'S RIGHT YOU ARE A SHOE. THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT NOT BEING A SHOE BECAUSE IN MY MIND YOU ARE ONE AND THAT IS MOST UNFORTUNATE.
AS LONG AS I HAVE YOU CONCEPTUALIZED AS A SHOE IN MY IMAGINATION YOU SHALL REMAIN AS SUCH.
THIS MAKES ME WONDER WHETHER ALL PEOPLES AND OBJECTS CAN BE CONCEPTUALIZED AS SHOES AND THUS BECOME SUCH, GRANTING ME ABSOLUTE POWER OVER THEM. DO YOU HAVE A CLEVER ARGUMENT? NO YOU DON'T, YOU"RE A SHOE. SHOES CAN'T HAVE CLEVER ARGUMENTS.
I FEEL LIKE THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD HAS BEEN LIFTED OFF MY SHOULDERS NOW THAT EVERYTHING IS UNDER MY CONTROL, NOW THAT YOU ARE ALL SHOES. I NO LONGER HAVE TO ANSWER TO MY REGRETS AND PAST MISTAKES BECAUSE THEY ARE SIMPLY SHOES.

Wow-that's-Blue army FTW!

My daughter is just starting with Nids, in eyewatering shades of yellow and pink

Thanks for this thread. It always cheers me up to see younglings just starting off, and doubly so when they have a higher proportion of their army than mine painted

Yes, there will be some toning down of the brightness of the blue. As with the battlewagon. Little girl said once she is done painting the different panels with different blue, she will use the older GW blue wash. It tones down the entire blue.

By the way, that is Army builder primer. It works great for these things.
