A few questions/comments.

6 pieces of terrain on a 6x4 board is terrible imo (thats no offense intended to anyone) but if you're lacking go oldschool, grab some coke cans, books for hills, old boxes etc, anything, that mid table was a crazy kill zone.

Where was the 3rd obj? I see one on the top right near the Stormraven/hanger another in the ruins at bottom middle table. Third?

Not too familiar with BA rules but if Mephiston was in the Rhino/Drop pod how did he charge first turn? He can assault after his vehicle moves?

I think Anvils deployment wasnt great, all starting units in the open VS an IG gunline is not going to end well. With vehicles being fast they could easily have taken cover first turn and still made up the ground easily, remember games are 6 turns+, you dont always have to get right in there at all costs, especially in an obj game.

I really ike the IG list tbh, a good mix of foot and mech and ability to deal with several types of threats.

Just a very minor point to Atlas, I know the norm these days is a who will win/batrep later thingy but at least put out the army lists for people to view and what style/builds might be involved. As another poster said otherwise its a coin flip and pretty frustrating for the readers.

Agreed, I noticed this as well observing the battle, but they placed terrain cooperatively and decided that it was enough - it wasn't deception on one players' part or anything like that.

He was on foot, but just happened to be right next to the Rhino when he deployed. He's a fast bugger, he can move 12" with a psychic test, Fleet and then charge 6".

And yeah, I agree. That's something I've learned and always try to take advantage of, especially since I prefer to go 2nd most of the time.

Yea, the orders I used were mostly 'Bring it Down' or First Rank, Second Rank. I found them to be effective against the Dreads and the Marines when they got in my face lol.

I find basilisks pretty effective for the most part, but I'm gonna have to start subbing my Basilisks for Griffons soon for our groups campaign in the summer, just because of the way I've set up that army to play. I think the idea of the Griffon's accuracy is really attractive, but most of the people I play against are MEQ (Necrons, Marines and Chaos), so a Griffon doesn't make the cut when it comes to the AP abilities that the Basilisk gives me. The Basilisk also does solid damage to vehicles which the Griffon also has a harder time doing. That's just me.

And yea, the Meltas were used mostly because I knew that he has a thing for drop podding in his Dreads, so the Meltas would (and did) definitely help deal with that problem!

Yeah I understand that Basilisks are instant death for marines - IF they are on target. For me I don't like that uncertainty. Only one of your basilisks out of 3 got a shot on target in this game right? Sure, Griffon is AP4, but the ability to re-roll missed hits on scatter dice mean that it's going to hit much more often. Marines still get their 3+ saves but they have to make a lot of them (unless your unlucky with the dice) if you have 3 Griffons as opposed to 3 basilisks. Also the minimum range is lower on griffon so if the enemy gets close they can still shoot away. In that game 3 Griffons would likely would've hit on average a minimum of 5 times over 4 turns (probably a lot more). That's A LOT of wounds to save. Also you save about 150 points in the process that you can use elsewhere: Lascannon HWS, a Hydra or a melta vet team etc. I personally just like that the statistics are in my favour with griffon...Of course if the Basilisks hit two or three times that's going to cause much more damage. So i'm not criticising or anything. I'm just explaining why I love the Griffon and how even though it doesn't seem like a good choice on paper against MEQ it seems to work very efficiently for me and usually makes it's points back and then some. It's just nice having the reliability with it's accuracy to fall back on. I guess I am just a more cautious player in that way.

Can totally understand why you went for meltas if you knew he had drop pods too.

My regular opponant is BA and I would never consider taking blobs against him.
Also unless the map you posted was innacurate, you guys aren't using nearly enough terrain. Those wide open spaces shouldn't exist....

As I said earlier, they placed cooperatively, but didn't put nearly enough terrain down when Atlas said "ok that's good".

It was my mistake.

And again, I learned from it, that was actually only the second time I'd ever placed terrain, period.

You can't go wrong with placement as long as it's fairly evenly spread, you just need lots of small things to block LOS/generate cover.

I run a blob-mech hybrid list and it's creamed BA's in the first turn on a couple of occasions (different opponents). One main blob fired its 5 autocannons into a storm raven using twin linked. Failed cover saves, penetrated, exploded. 1 of the termies inside died as a nice little bonus. Then twin linked lascannons in my HWS - killed the baal predator...Maybe a bit lucky, but it was pretty much over first turn. Had similar success against GK's recently. So personally I am sticking with blob/hybrid lists against BA and any MEQ. They don't seem to be able to handle the blob long range fire saturation...Eac to their own though.

Right now i'm just using second-hand Basilisks and cut down the turret to make it a mortar. It would be better suited to a colossus because the resulting 'mortar' is large (way bigger than Griffon mortar should be), but it's the cheapest and quickest method I could think of so it'll do just fine for now.

Guys, 1 question. Do you think it is a good idea to patch a minostorium priest into a 30 man guardmans blob as well as a commissar??

Also don't SR gunships have extra armor so they can always move? Kinda laughed that it sat there and took a raping from that vendetta...

Yeah he has 5 wounds, I might have gotten the events mixed up though. In any case, he died on his 5th wound.

And no, you have to buy Extra Armour for Storm Ravens - at least, for Blood Angels anyway.

Yeah, extra armour would have helped...but usually it's not very helpful as if anything, the enemy usually scores pen hits and stunned is rarely the result.
