Sorry but I think you are both a bit confused, since the army I was running in the end (1500pts) WAS with a lascannon HWS, aswell as Hydra, Griffon and Leman Russ's. Since then - as discussed above in prior posts - I have incoporated the HWS into the 1000pt list and made other modifications.

Sorry for the confusion. You are absolutely right that the first list I posted wouldn't be able to compete as it lacks any long range anti-tank and relies on meltavets. This is indeed why I modified it before my game against GK player last weekend in the 1500pt game and have incorprorated it into my 1000pt lists too.

For example:
"Most likely I could pop most those 3 rhinos with hydras, lascannons and if needs be autocannons in the blob. I can issue an order to ignore cover saves to make that even more likely."

Don't see why that is unreasonable? Also I think Mahu is confused when he says "Not saying you wouldn't get your damage in on that match up, but you are most definately not winning that match up. Not against a smart player. ".

With the original list maybe. But we aren't talking about the original list anymore. Roguejm11 is discussing what list he would use against my list and I am saying what modifications I would use.

As I said, i'd add a lascannon team (by freeing up and reducing blob size by 10 and maybe scratching some wargear like voxes or whatever) and swap the griffon for a hydra if facing his list. Hydra can help pop rhinos with the blob. Lascannon team can focus on the dreads. Chimera vets might not survive against the dreads autocannons, but if they don't survive the lascannon team could probably take out at least one in following turns.
It could go either way which is why I agree with Roguejm11it would be a very entertaining game.

So Mahu dunno why you are so cocksure to assume "you most definately not winning that match up." That's a bit harsh mate and comes across as a bit arrogant.

Also Straken in a Chimera is pointless in my opinion; he is a solid CC unit (for guard anyway) and has furious charge, so you may as well give him at least the chance to do this and serve his counter-assault role.
Manticores I haven't tried yet so am open to that.

Maybe you should update the proposed list then. Re-summarize what your 1k lost would now be. Because at this point it OSS no longer a blob with 2 vet chimeras.
