Thought I would throw this in there.
Doesn't change the matter really. The corporate excuse is just that, the corporate excuse. Everyone here knows whats going on or they just don't pay much attention. There's no reason for that content not to be part of the price you pay on launch day other than "we wantz moar of your monzies!" EDIT: Honestly though I would apply this to any launch day DLC content (not just this). I hate money grabbing. Games are expensive. $60 is a lot of money, and games comparatively cost even more overseas than in the US, and its just cheap to demand more money for something that'll probably only take 20 minutes of my time on day one when it could and should have been in that price to start with.

A question.
Would you see this as acceptable if they made it available a month from launch, just after you finished your first playthrough?
I'd rather them release it when its ready instead of wait so they don't get blamed for EA fething everyone over.

If its ready at launch I should get it with my initial purchase. Anything else is just greedy, but this is also tied in to my other issues with DLC content (like cost/time ratio), and I'm considering making a more generalized thread to discuss those issues.

But I do blame EA... I don't understand why you keep bring Bioware into this. Anyone who blames them is either too angry to care (and thus filled with nerd rage) or an idiot.

I am actually sad to admit I probably won't be getting ME3, not because of this single DLC, but rather a series of desicions by Bioware/EA that come of as unecessary and/or just bad moves. The list includes ios games, multiplayer, kinect support, day 1 DLC nonsense, and so on. It's annoying to think if you want the most out of ME3 you need to buy iphone games, artbooks, and whatever else they're throwing out.
As for the prothean character considering the lore of the ME universe I think it would be hard to say that a living prothean is not significant in someway. For me this means a couple things. A significant part of the story has been cut out to make some more money. Or if he ends up as your typical insignificant DLC character that says to me his prothean status is just a sellng point. Not to mention if he has as much depth as a typical DLC character it would just be absurd. Having a prothean being plot irrelevant wouldn't really fit given what we know of the ME lore.

QTF. I applaud Asimo for just coming out and saying it out in the open

Applause? Gee you're making me blush
The saddest part of it all is much like Total Biscuit I know ME3 will be fun, cinematic, and thoroughly enjoyable but I can't in good conscious purchase it. Man not being able to play ME3, talk about 1st world problems amirite?
P.S. what's QTF?

I think he meant QFT, which is "Quoted for Truth"
I understand, LOH. I'm talking about Bioware because I read youtube comments and comments on Bioware's statement on the issue and everyone was blaming Bioware. Just me being mad over people being dumb.
TBH, not buying a game that seems to only improve on ME2 and could be the best game ever made because of some DLC, is just silly.
Asimo, you don't have to buy or play "ios games, kinect support, and multiplayer" to get the full experience. Bioware has stated that multiplayer would simply be an alternative way to reach the same ending.
I don't see how you ios games or kinect support would influence your decision at all.

The ios games and kinect support are probably not the best examples, but they do still strike me as just unecessary like the MP. Better examples would be Jessica Chobot's likeness in the game which is just a dumb idea, another one would be James "bro-dude" Vega. I mean seriously you give us Mordin and Garrus then try to pass this guy off as a companion?
I also dislike the constant "we're making this game accessible to new-comers" rhetoric the devs keep espousing. It makes me a little cautious because I wonder if the full potential of ME's trilogy was pulled back to make it easily accessible.
As for the DLC I alread explained why it's a bad move. Day 1 DLC and pre-order scams...err "bonuses" already annoy me. Taking something as important as a prothean character and making him one is a really poor desicion. It says that Bioware/EA is more interested in emptying your wallet than crafting a story/setting.
I liked how in Mass Effect 1 we had a full package from the start, all the characters, all the weapons, all the skins, etc. The only things added were 2 decent, but not necessary, pieces of DLC. Then comes ME2 with EA doing the publishing and we unsurprsingly have DLC costumes, weapons, missions, characters, blah blah blah. But it wasn't too bad...
However ME3 seems to just ramp up those business practices, in other words it's getting worse and I don't want to support that kind of stuff. ME is a great series and universe and I want to absorb as much of it as possible but if I have to drop stupid amounts of money, play ios games, analyze vendor specific content, fish for DLC codes in artbooks, soda cans, and cereal boxes, well then it's just not worth it. Automatically Appended Next Post: Edit: also add Origin to my list of complaints and grievances

I'd assume that the Day 1 DLC wasn't originally intended to be so, but as it was leaked, rather than have everyone going "when are you going to release that DLC?" they brought it forwards to release it on the same day. At least that's what I think (hope) happened.
