I suppose there are cultural differences, in america if you want to kill someone you simply shoot them whereas in the rest of the world you put up with it and vent when you get home.

I've been working on (and succeeding pretty well) at losing weight, and have been having a lot of PBJ. Peanut Butter is high in fat, but it's also really high in protein, so it fills you up for a long time.
At work my current lunch is usually 2oz of cheese cubes (I alternate between pepperjack, cheddar, smoked cheddar, etc), a large honeycrisp apple, and a 2 tablespoonish tub of chunky peanut butter. I cut the apple into slices and use them as scoops to eat the peanut butter. Don't know why it works, but it does.

Yes, we all wear cowboy hats, carry at least two Colt revolvers at all times, and grow Yosemite Sam mustaches as well.
As to the original topic, I vastly prefer jam over jelly, although I still call the sandwich "peanut butter and jelly" even if I use jam. I like to use some kind of berry jam, like blueberry, blackberry, or raspberry. I love strawberries, but I'm not a huge fan of strawberry jam, and don't use it much in sandwiches. I avoid grape jelly as much as possible though. I don't think I've used grape jelly on a sandwich in years, although my mom used to make a homemade grape jam that was off the hook. She used to make homemade ketchup too, which was amazing. If you've never had homemade ketchup, I highly recommend it. It totally changed how I felt about the condiment.
I try to use crunchy natural or organic peanut butter whenever I can get it. Proper peanut butter is just ground up peanuts in a jar! It doesn't need sugar added to it! After getting used to real peanut butter, I can barely stand Jif and Skippy and that kind of crap. When I eat my favorite peanut butter, it just tastes like I put a bunch of whole peanuts in my mouth and chewed them up. It's lovely!
Some kind of whole wheat or grain bread is a must as well. Store-bought white bread tastes like plastic.
Peanut butter and honey is also nice, if I run out of jam or just want to switch it up. Violet preserves are a nice option as well, although I haven't had them in forever, sadly.

In a lot of countries the word "jelly" is used for gellatin. I believe americans refer to it as jello.

Yes, Jell-O is a brand name that most Americans use as a catch-all term for gelatin deserts.
Although there is a difference between jam and jelly, and plenty of people note the difference, I think a lot of Americans probably still use "jelly" as a sort of catchall term for fruit spreads. Like I mentioned in my previous post, I still call the sandwich "peanut butter and jelly" even though I'm far more likely to use jam than jelly.
I've been wondering though, does no one actually produce jelly in the UK (as in, fruit spread made from juice and pectin, as opposed to fruit pulp and seeds)? Or is jelly available, but jam is simply a sort of catchall term for fruit spreads over there?

Of course we have what you call jelly in the UK. It is also referred to as jam but it is sometimes labelled as having "no bits".
An yes jam serves as a catchall term really. Although marmalade is perhaps an exception to the rule. if someone asked you if you wanted jam on your toast and gave you marmalade tables would be thrown.

Okay, I wasn't sure. I figured there probably was jelly in the UK, but for some reason it seemed like fewer UK Dakkaites differentiate between jam and jelly, while more of the American Dakkaites seem to (at least in threads that have come up before). That said, I think in terms of the general population, a lot of Americans probably don't know the difference and call everything jelly.
I would agree with you on marmalade, the same thing would happen in the US if someone asked for jelly or jam and got marmalade. People would definitely differentiate marmalade, but I think even though marmalade is pretty readily available, it's somewhat less popular and a lot of people probably aren't really familiar with it.

Acceptable forms of Peanut Butter and X Sammiches (We need the best out there, so we're going with Monster Rain's equation of Sammiches > Sandwiches. Note: Jelly Flavor is mostly irrelevant because the jelly only serves to prevent your jaw from locking up as you enjoy the sammich. List of Peanut Butter Sammiches Peanut Butter and Grape Jelly Peanut Butter and Banana (toasted in a skillet similar to Toasted Cheese Sammiches (Elvis, the King, used to love these things, and I do too...) Peanut Butter and Marshmellow Fluff Peanut Butter and Honey (As per Calvin and Hobbes) Peanut Butter and Nutella (Or some other sort of chocolate flavored spread, yes I know Nutella is Hazelnuts). Bread choice is optional, as I prefer mine on wheat bread. Milk is mandatory to aid in washing it down, preferably white milk, as Chocolate might kill you with how thick it is... Toasting of the sandwich will make any PB&X instantly 1000 times more enjoyable. Anything else is outside the norm, and will be considered heresey. While it does not mean an exterminatus team will be sent to your house, it does mean you will spend 2500 years as a servitor... Edit: Samus, you need to get the right type of Peanut Butter, and a good type of bread, I find Wonderbread does well because since it is barely bread to begin with, it has some good staying power. Shall we also standardize the peanut butter we use? I find Jiff to spread like stiff plastic, but Peter Pan Peanut Butter is always smooth.
