Well, since Battlefront is getting ready to release an M18 boxed set I think Hellcats would be a safe bet.

OT: why does Italy get their recently released boxes taken away ? (also, hasen't the ITAB01 Italian Compagnia Bersaglieri been discontinued for years? It has the orginization of the last book and BF hasn't sold it for years)

Agreed,; as an Italian player I was quite surprised by this. They even took away the CR.42 Falcos (3-plane set) which I can understand due to the V3 rules, but those were only out a few months before this announcement. I rushed to get mine as I'm using the others as objectives, etc.

So, basically it appears all the Italian stuff is pretty much relegated to blisters now, which I'm sure will not be cost-friendly to us Italian players...

I find it frustrating that it has only been a number of months since Hellfire and Back and Burning Empires came out and pretty much all of the boxed sets from those releases are being pulled to make room for yet more LW boxes. Everything is supposed to be available directly as blisters eventually, but some things are no longer available in the boxes, but also not yet available in blisters. Not everyone is LW obsessed with the game...

It does seem like a really odd move to discontinue a product so shortly after releasing it. BF seems determined to give Italy as little love as possible, with this discontinuing of all their boxed sets and the prohibitive price of playing them.

They don't even provide blisters for all the required miniatures in the current lists in North Africa, as I had to special order all my Bersaglieri HMG and 47/32 gun teams (at a very high cost, $3.75 per base for the HMG and $8.25 per base for the AT guns!) that are required as standard for the AS42 organization of the Italians in North Africa. To have the basic and necessary units for a list in a current book as special order only and very overpriced seems really odd.

I agree, why do they think all we want is LW?

Currently, In the Italian range, the Self-Propelled Coastal Guns, M11/39, 105/28 Howitzer, Autosahariana, and Fiat CR.42 Falco are all currently unavailable because the boxed sets are discontinued and there are no blisters.

I was just going to purchase some of the Falcos for air support in EW, but now it seems I can't right now, and will probably only be able to get them later at a higher price.

Very annoyed that I haven't had the chance to build out all of my early war desert lists and now I can't in some cases, and in all cases they will be more expensive as well thanks to not have multiples in the box deals. Yeah the discounts on the boxes weren't massive, but when buying enough stuff they could make a difference in the long run.

I had a similar issue with BF; I had originally purchased the Italian Bersag Boxed army that was circa 1500 points in V1 NA. So, as I was adding on to the battalion, I needed some more 47/32 Elefantino gun-teams, Solothurn AT-Rifles and 4 Skoda 100/17 howitzers. So I put in my order at the LFGS and then when I received the figs, they had given me the 47/32 guns, but with no crew.

After some inquires as to what was going on, it appeared that they didn't have any Bersag 47/32 gun crew in-stock, so i was relegated to purchasing a Bersag infantry platoon instead to use as crew. Not that this was really a bad thing as the Bersag platoon did have some decent troopers to model as crew, but the fact that they were out AND I had to buy a platoon of infantry that I really didn't need at the time was a bit annoying. So my expenditure was over what i had calculated.

So, when i read that their boxed sets were going to blisters now, i can imagine this might happen again some time down the road for future purchases; I was really going to get the Coastal Guns and the 149mm artillery for my EW lists and maybe the Saharianas since they were all in the boxed set, but <sigh> guess that'll be awhile....

The Bersaglieri 47/32s with crew are really overpriced, it is $17.50 for a blister of 2 guns! (so, in my case, it would have cost me $52.50 for 6 anti-tank gun teams, luckily for me I got them on a big sale)

Do you mean the 105/28 artillery? If you are talking about the 105/28 artillery, then (IMHO), they don't seem to be worth the cost of 130 pts. over the 100/17s, as they only really gain +2 AT for direct fire, and +8in. range for bombardments.

I have just been proxying my Lancia da 90/53s as the Coastal Guns look so similar...

Edit: It looks like you can still get most of the boxed sets from The War Store (though not the costal guns): http://www.thewarstore.com/flamesofwaritalians.html

Yeah, the 105/28 Coastal Guns were what I was referring to; I just liked the models, and I know for 130 pts, they're a bit pricey for what you get (even though I can only ever take 2 of them for my Bersag force).

I've thought about proxying my Lancias as well for EW forces until I was able to acquire the Coastal Guns.
I was also going to get the M11//39 and M14/41 boxed sets as well to flesh out a Carri force.

Do want.

Do want very much.

BGG contains Tank Aces, right? I know what company I'm going to run.

No indication as to whether M36s are fieldable en masse, but it looks promising (though I will point out the existence of "Corps Tank Destroyer Platoon" on the chart, so HAH!)

Reading that chart doesn't look like it will be M36 platoons. I;m guessing the "Corps Tank Destroyer Platoon" will be the M36s.

I cant wait for the rest of the "late" late war books to start popping up, we should be seeing some interesting lists and options from all sides.

I wonder what the second brigade mentioned in the article is like

Yeah, I'm excited about the possibilities too. The FHH Panzerkompanie should offer an interesting dynamic for the Germans, with powerful tanks combined with lower-rated crews. I'm hoping they do a Volkgrenadierkompanie list for the Bulge, with confident trained infantry and lots of SMGs and assault rifles.

Given that the Infantry Aces rules were applicable to any infantry company force I can't imagine why Tank Aces wouldn't also apply universally to all LW armies as well.
