No he did not run a all troll army, we played 1500 points so lots and lots of Goblins too, Not very familiar with the sourcebook for the misty mountains so cant give much details. Althou it was a really close match, and Easterlings do acctualy struggel against more nimbel opponets iif they are played correctly.

I'm very familiar with the book as both my armies come in the same book and I can see for sure why they can be a hassle. Easterlings are excellent troops but against numbers they can be flanked and if the enemy is directed properly. Throw in a handful of goblin prowlers (+1 roll against trapped opponents to wound) and then hurl your goblin bowmen in, you can find yourself boxed in or surrounded by double the numbers, not nice . If you can keep your battle line intact and keep them from flanking with the nazgul and stuff like compel/transfix your onto a winner, goblins will always just about lose 1 on 1 haha. Might I suggest the undying for the job of keeping many goblins at bay due to his will abilities?

Pretty Jealous though, I really wanna play a game that big! Might be able to soon once I have painted up both my moria and angmar 500pts

Yes they do have that advantage, I do take some Figthing Uruks as allies at times. But yes I learned that about their sheer strengt in numbers the hard way. I have had my army surronded and no way of escape, but that makes my jobb easyer thou Then they cant run away! I prefer to flank my army with two units of Kataprakts, and the mainline advancing behind a pike&shield wall. And to be honnest we rarly play such big games, due to the time and all but its still a blast!

That is very true, you get a few breaks and make their numbers dwindle and get in combat they are royally screwed I know what you mean LOTR can take a long long time, a 500pt can take me a few hours! Dependant on what we are using of course, might have myself a siege soon, picked up the warhammer fortress from a car boot/garage sale for £15 and haven't used it a lot, this is the perfect chance!

Holy cow is that a lot of easterlings! I was expecting some allies but that must look magnificent together being pure easterling! Any pics?

No pics and that makes me sad, put once I get my hands on a cammera I may upload a few, I was lucky and got hold of the old boxes with Easterlings witch had 20 in each, that made my jobb alot easyer

I hear you guys. I bought two boxes of 24 Haradrim for about $60 CAD, That's more Warbands then I know what I want to do with. Recently picked up a box of raiders, but have to order those finecast Commanders and a Pewter King on horse back, and I frankly think there was no good reason why the Hashairn was disconnected. This forces me to order, although it's a blood lovely model, the Kneeling Assassin from Reaper.

They also have a Mumak I want to pick up at my FLGS, and it's all under liquidation pricing.

You have no idea how long I cried, it felt like my soul had been violated by a Uruk hai in a thong I also happen to have a firend who loans me the Nazgul when we play togetter. If there is one thing who tickst me of with the LOTR moddels is the size, I have large hands and a bit of tendecy for getting paint all over, so needless to say I take long time to paint a box, about 75% of my army is painted atm

You can do something cheese with Isengard, make a phalanx and on the first rank put berserkers, on the second orks with spears and last a nice rank of Uruk Hai with pikes thus having a total of 4 attacks in close combat. Total domination!

That sir made me feel very ill...... That's cool, I'm gonna be lending my old uruk-hai to mate so he can actually play me, he likes thought of LOTR just doesn't want to part with cash.
75% is damn good especially with that amount of mini's!

I thought you couldn't fight through a guy using a two handed weapon? Also you'd cry as the bow fire killed 100pts over the first couple of turns....

Yeah, no spear/pike support for 2 handed weapons and the naked bezerkers die to bowfire.

That only works if your opponet allows you to walk accros the board unchallenged, And as other have said bowfire will maul that phalanxs apparrt, and the Beserkers cant be up front when armed with two handed weapons. And besides you are better of running wildmen of Dunland as a screen since they are cheaper and dose the same role okay. And if you where to face lets say either Harad with hordes of bows or Galadrim heavy cav who will shoot you appart, and then charge you into oblivion.

Feral Uruk-Hai work better. They're cheaper and have a higher defense. Plus, I don't tend to like to use/remember to use 2-Handed weapons.

Yeh the pay-off is good but you can rest assured that the -1 will lose you the fight and the berzerker
