You're right to assume that I don't have any GF round tube plastic. I was searching at local shops and what I found was only smaller diameters. This way is the model a little bit more unique
But on the other hand, old pen just don't sound bad as a tank barrel.
it is always a good idea to see stuff from a modlers point of view^^

Yes this is a nice view, when you see something and imagine it immediately used on your armoured vehicle

Back of the turret (yet unfinished base shape) with a two connections made from a plastic handle, found in local hardware shop.
Took me quite awhile to cut the handle in exact angles to fit there. Especially the end sloped in two axes.

great use of non hobby related materials there... as sometimes you can get these handles quite cheap or even from your tool box at home that is an excellent choice!!!

and it looks really good together with the tank! also i think i would have sweared quite a lot for this cutting and fitting work with the ex- handle^^

Covered all small holes at turret. Searching for method, how to build two drilling mechanisms at the front of the tank.

have you seen the lego atlantis range?

see either those grey bitz on the front arm or the blck big wheel like thingies...

or failing the will to buy such things you could use small caps for fireworks such as these:

Bunch of good suggestions here! Lego is a good candidate because of details, but have higher price. Thanks!

Hehe subbed! Look like a fantastic project to me! You have some real talent here; the plasticard polygons are cut perfectly and match up really well.

looking at the tracks again...will these se completion or will they later on look like a bit sunken in the ground?

I will complete the tracks so they will not look like sunken in to the ground. Around the tracks, there will be some rocks and dirt.

so you will create a base for the tank... or will this tank be the star in a diorama?

For now, there is in my mind a rounded base and tank climbing a shallow hill of many small rocks. But who knows how it will end

hmm... nice idea... !

Found a solution for tank drilling mechanisms. Two airscrew cones originally used on plane models from hobby-shop do the job.
I roughen them with sand paper to look more used when painted and glued some blocks on them.

interesting find... i am not too sure about the wooden blocks...but i guess we have to see it mounted for qualified comments!

Mounted the drilling mechanisms on the chassis. If I'll find something better than wooden blocks, maybe I'll replace them. But it must be something accessible, not expensive, good looking, etc.

I made a barrel from the plastic hose (at the bottom) and attached it to the back of the chassis with wire and glue.

the barrel from the hose looks interesting...different angled shot would be nice tho...

as for the drilling parts... well have you thought about using PC? cut to your likings...and then twisted or bended to fit the bill? it is hard to describe tho^^

This is some kind of a closeup from back of the chassis. Have a plan to add some details on both circle sides.

Now is the time to add some details. Magnetized the turret so it can rotate 360

Any ideas about weathering the edges technique? Paint corners some kind of weathered (e.g. silver) color with sponge?
or
Paint with two different color layers and then scratch the top color down?

i would do the sponge methode...that creates a very convincing looking random looking pattern of scratches!

and yes, the tank looks more ´n´more true to the concept!

Starting to add some details, where the washes show their strength.

i like the newly added details... by the way...what is that black piece from on the barres side? i kind of have seen that before somewhere...?

Been Around the Block

The black thing is used to hold things on the shaft. Maybe word 'seger' could explain more.

ok...i see...somehow it looked for me for a sec as if it was a used piece from a bra...don´t laugh...but recently my wife throw away some of her bras...and there is some good detail material still on all of these hooks and what not^^

I will add some scratches to simulate metal weathering. That would be the version to paint. Who knows how long it takes.

nice! am i guessing right that these new black and white bits on the turret are from clable inside your PC?

good luck with the painting!

Yes there are some spare computer parts there on the back of the turret. Thought that they can increase complexity and look kinda cool

good luck with the painting!

Thanks!

oh yeah... good choice there!!!

when will we see it primed at least?... the uniform colored version is always a nice transformation from parts assembled to a complete look!
