The Angels of Ecstasy are beauties

Is that city tiles on the EC bases? Could you post a picture of them?

I recommend going out and buying a cheap can of matte black primer at your local hardware store, spray your models up instead of painting on bare plastic. If you do that your colors will stick better. Also gives the model a nice coat of black to fill in gaps and spots you missed.

Try some of the new washes to add some depth and try to water your paints down a bit, helps to clean some lumpiness out of your whites.

Overall though, its good to see that your are consistently presenting a clean finish to most of your models. Keep in mind though that the color pallet you have chosen is going to be quite tedious when you get to more advanced techniques as making pink look properly shaded takes some time.

Keep painting, the more you try the better you will get though you have probably heard that a thousand times.

Yarrr...

Thanks for the advise on the spray; i'm currently just using a brush. All of them have been basecoated except from the 4th one as he was initially just a tester, but i liked the shade of pink.

Re-posting the angels of ecstacy marine as he seems to have dissapeared...

@angelsofecstacy - the tiles are handpainted as i wanted to make it look like the tiles came out of the ground as the marines moved forward. On my Violators (who have CCWs) only half the base is tiled, the rest is flock to hopefuly make sense of what i'm trying to do... If that made sense

The raptor is probably your best so far!

Imperial guard: Because quantity has a quality of it's own.

Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.

After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right.

Yeah, the Raptor Lord is excellent.

Oh, and when you undercoat with a brush, try watering it down a bit, then it covers the recesses as well.

I used a spray can for the raptor lord, the first pic is what it looked like when it arrived and it was abit dusty and green.

Got some old noise marines coming in; don't like the weapons personally, but the bodies are really cool. A squad of Raptors and a normal chaos marine squad.

The flames are nice. However, I will say that the paint is a tad too thick. If you spraypaint yer models, it takes less paint and that means the details stand out more.

Overall, keep up the nice work!

Thanks, this was the first guy that i spray painted so i might have done it abit dodgy, although the raptor lord came out fine... I'll thin my paints next time i mix up the shade of pink i'm using for my Flawless Host marines.

I love that you update this blog regularly. It's all really nice, especially the lord. Can you upload "better" pictures of him? Like clearer/crisper?

I've been busy working away at my marines, and with a few new toys; expect an update fairly soon

I've recently started working on my mono-slaanesh daemon army to accompany my marines and traitor guard and after looking blankly at a set of daemonettes for a while thinking about how to turn them into horrors; the thought struck me. Big guns. grabbing the picture from the front of Daemon World (the novel) i cobbled together a few bits and came up with a test model. Tell me what you think as i'm currently on the fence about the design/model/overall look of the conversion.

Do you have a picture of everything you have in your CSM/guard army? That would be great!

I'm still alive!

I've been busy working away at my noise marines in anticipation of the new codex but just couldn't help but pick up the dark vengeance box-set as the sculpts are pretty awesome; here's hoping the new chaos models are just as good

Anyway, I've decided that i'm going to roll all of my armies into one blog. So it might get pretty clustered around here!

Enough from me, here's what I've been up to since last time. Enjoy.

@EvilDr.Cheese - here's hoping! I'm looking forward to the slaanesh powers for sorcerers too.

Just thought i'd put up pictures of the two lords that i'm currently working on, the one with the whip is still a W.I.P. and the DV lord is finished minus the base. comments and criticisms would be appreciated.

That blue's looking very bright, I assume you'll be toning it down with some blue wash, getting it looking a bit more like the skin of the Seeker above?

Also, I forgot to mention, your cultist leader dude, he could de some some highlitghs on his weapons, and the same is true of the gold you paint. For the gold you could ttry base coating in Iyanden Darksun yellow (or equivalent as per new paints), this means you don't have to put your gold on so think to get decent coverage. Then try a highlight burnished gold and then a few cunning spots of silver for where the light is hitting it.

Hope that helps.

The blue unfortunately didn't respond too well to the flash, hence the brightness, and isn't actually that bright irl. However, looking at the model i think it could maybe do with another wash.

Thanks for the advise on the gold, I've been looking at ways of painting gold for a while as i'm unhappy with the results i'm getting so far so i will certainly try that out!

Agreed that Raptor Lord and Seeker look pretty nice, As for painting gold I like to:

Base > Balthasar Gold
Wash> Riekland Fleshshade (though any brown ink would do)
First Layer> Balthsar gold mixed with Mithril Silver (1:1)
Second Layer> Mithril Sivler. (very fine highlight layer)

Hope that helps.

Happy Painting

Cheers guys! I'll try that out as soon as the new codex comes out so i can get everything in one go

I've got a few questions for you guys and girls today. So I present you my 12 man cultist squad; how's it looking? Is there anything you think that i can add/ improve?
