I just went and checked and they are 30 points each, sorry! But you can make merry 50 points and Pip 45 if you give them upgrades i.e. ponys and shields etc

I would murder for more special characters for the Men of the east. We only have two, Amdur and a Nazgul while Harad has like a gazzilion of them, so unfair

Yeah I've never understood that! They should have done a better variety of special characters, but too late now!

Easterlings are fine both their characters are insane. I think i would have been cool to see some Named Khandish King though. Automatically Appended Next Post: Easterlings are fine both their characters are insane. I think i would have been cool to see some Named Khandish King though.
But it;s what i was thinking with the hobbits. I was counting the upgrades. As you're obviously going to be giving them ponies and shields and i thought armour was an upgrade. so i think that's where the extra 5pts came from >.<

Well, far as i'm aware even Amdur was made up. Only Khamul was mentioned. They really didn't get any named leaders. Even Suladin leaders of all of Harad was only given like 1/2 lines before he died, queen Berutiel was only mentioned in a poem briefly, something about her cats or something. Pretty much all of them were only mentioned once.
But i guess they could do with maybe 1 more. But they don't really have many options for troops anyway. I suppose they do if you count Khand too. A named Khandish king would be nice.

yeah, it;s true. But in the book there are a few decent characters. Just the way it is though with good generally having better heroes. I honestly think Lurtz should have been better. Instead of just being a Uruk captain with a shield and bow.

Yeah, I agree with this! Should have given him some special rule tbh either to do with his bow (He did kill Boromir with it after all!) Or with some rule that allows him to shrug of wounds on a 6 (Like Durin) before fate rolls are taken (just based on him not wanting to die in the film!)

Well Lurtz didn't even exist in the books >.> But he was portrayed as pretty bad ass in the films and it really doesn't come across in his rules. I;d say he doesn;t move in the turn he can fire his bow at his S value. Would do the 2 shots thing but Vrasku has that and Thrydan has the whole 2 wounds for 1 thing.
Heshould have been a bit more expensive. Like 80 and had a boosted statline and a couple special rules. 1 for his bow mode and one for sword and shield.

He isn't in the book He is completely made up for the film!
Yeah something like that would have made him much more badass and an interesting character to take!

I did just say that
I think Vrasku should have been able to upgrade Uruks to shoot 3+ and had Lurtz with the shoot twice thing with an S4 bow.
I mean in the film did you see the size of the arrows Lurtz shot boromir with? those were no normal arrows.

I did also say make him like 80pts. But S3 bow would do i suppose. Or even just giving him a rule similar to in WotR and having a piercing arrow shot he can make that will reduce the Defence of a target by a set amount for a turn. or a shot that always wounds on a 4+ to represent it piercing straight through the armor.

I like the idea of him havinga str3 bow, that would be good.
Also I thought Lurtz had 3 might compared to the usual 2?

Well yeah, but 5pts for an extra might point ain;t really worth it in my eyes. When i could have heroes like Ugluk, vrasku or Mauhur for same points cost and they actually have decent special rules.
turns out it;s same points to have an extra might. Which ain't bad but waste really as i;d rather not have a shield and bow, waste of points. Heavy armor and shield yeah, or just bow.

I am not sure, I would prefer to not having to give a hero stats and all. I like to leave that to the GW staff, who has done a super job with the ones we have atm thou.

Very true, they have done really well with the LOTR system compared to the others where the armies leapfrog each other in power

Yeah Merry and Pippin are 30 points. There is 5 unindependent heroes which = 60 hobbits. They are 4 points max x 60 = 240. All the heroes together are 200 points( 25 + 30 + 30 + 65 + 50) This equals 440 points so you could take fellowship sam and bill the pony as he counts as a banner. This would mean that you could take 2 sams. Nothing says you cant! Except for logic of course.
