Try it at 90 then scale it down with testing I suppose.

Just a thought how would casters work with this? As in lore wise. Does humanity develop psykers like 40k, they gave themselves a bit of an advantage by genetic manipulation during the cloning stage, plasmids, cybernetics or a combination of all of them?

I suppose stuff like fire and ice could be kept to cybernetics if you had them where as the plasmid sort of one could focus more on some seemingly natural ones like poisons and acids. Just a thought.

I hadn't honestly gotten that far. I'm not sure if I even want to include something like that into it, though Mutated humans (Any Chaos Sprue) may come up if anything.

What kind of Mutations do you think should come into it? To say the Cloning Process hasn't fethed up once or twice would be.... unbeleivable.

A Gladiator that represents the lowest of the low, freaks amongst freaks.... I'm liking this idea. Maybe I'll have to base him upon Riddick.....

Ok, here is a question for you guys, having problems with it:

The Jungle is dark and scary. You can't see anything in it unless you spend money on an elixer. There could be enemies in there, waiting for you to seperate yourself from the safety of the lane.

Why do you want to go in there?

Money. Easy money.

Boost the power of jungle buffs maybe.

Shouldn't be any jungle buffs, tbh.

I don't like when the jungle is mandatory. I like how in DotA it can be a benefit but its not an exact requirement. It can hurt you badly if you do it wrong, or if you spend too much time in it.

I agree, when something seems mandatory the meta settles on it then it becomes extremely dull. I'd say maybe try to avoid any hand holding in the jungle. It should be risky not just a larger lane.

Hmm. Alternatives.

Money is always an option, but its nice when there's something enticing beyond cash I think. Though the combination of cash and low visibility would make ambushes within the jungle a more enticing prospect.

Perhaps level the buffs to the likes of dragon or Baron. Make them singular on the map, but needing something of a team effort to acquire. Of course, that doesn't give much of an individual incentive to enter, and how it would be balanced is complicated.

What about teleport pads? Stash them in the jungle and they take you to another part, allowing fast ganks and quick escapes? That would be hard to balance though.

Tell me what you guys think about this idea: There are no jungle creeps initially, but once every.... 2 minutes or so, a random Jungle Camp spawns somewhere on the map. These Camps have buffs, basically the DotA runes, but the team who kills the last creep gets them. However, it may just be a Jungle Camp with no buffs, so you need to send someone in there to find out if it's worth the effort to get it.

This would also help force team fights, making it alot less dull early on.

Maybe stick with the leader having the buff and having a bunch of minions. Sounds like a good idea, however be careful on where abouts they spawn in relation to both teams bases as if it's too close to one it can open up a significant advantage to one team.

I guess some notification about it could help prompt both teams on it. Maybe show a general area when it does becoming more accurate with an item or ability to detect.

Got the map figured out, it is quite different than any before it. More info when I get home from vacation, and off the phone.

That's not a good idea unless the buff camps spawn in locations similar to where runes spawn in dota. Otherwise you're introducing way to much randomness into the game. I do kinda like the idea that buffs would have to be fought over, even if just with neutrals.

Well, something totally different is going there, bit it is kind of hard to explain right now. The plan is to get home, make a post explaining stuff, make the map, and then make a video of the base game so you guys can see what I am up to. Will probably make a Facebook page with all the details, have to join that possibly.

So one last question, do you guys think 22 characters are enough for the start of a beta? Once i get the facebook page made, ill probably ask for player opinions on more characters.

Nope. I'd say 40 minimum.

20 Is probably enough (provided a decent spread of style/type). Once you start actually getting the game running, making new characters will become much easier than dealing with them only in the abstract. EDIT: I wouldn't call it a beta though. I'd label that as alpha to make it more clear the game is still in its very early stages.

Good point on the alpha.

Another question, sorry about lying. Would you guys go for, assuming it was balanced, "create a character", sure you make different loadouts and select them in game? You would still be stuck s one character the entire march.

I think it would be an interesting idea to toy around with, but balance would be very hard.

Just stick the skills to certain slots or something to help keep it balanced. Custom characters would be a pretty cool feature.

Perhaps you even have an amount of skill points with which to buy your load out. Could make the broken combinations cost just too much.

Only if you want your game to not be taken seriously in the slightest.

It's not like it'd be runes and masteries all over again.

Some people play games to have fun. Taking it seriously isn't necessarily a requirement.

In this genre, balance is key.

And it can be balanced, if Slarg wants to put the work into it. Whether the time spent achieving the end pays off though is probably up for grabs

This cannot be balanced.

Just about anything is capable of being reasonably balanced. It's all a question of time to achieve the end.

EDIT: Granted, some features really can just exist for the hell of it.

That is the plan. Have things like jump jets and miniguns cost too much to equip them together.
