We don't know what caused it, but I doubt it was an EMP.

sirlynchmob wrote:If someone has some sort of device or knew how to fix it, why wait 15 years to do it?

That is assuming it was a device, that if it were a device that it was man made, or that we understand why they used it in the first place. To know why they hadn't fixed it you would have to know why they broke it.

well let me know after it airs but there is no way a device or anything can stop a battery from working. They should have start this series in 1999 and called it Y2K. You'd think using up the last drop of our fossil fuels would have been a better premise with mostly the same result.

I wouldn't be surprised if this started as a spec script for that.

Not sure about the Electrical failure but it works as a non nuclear/viral/zombie apocalypse which have all been done before.

The lack of modern weapons looks like a driver for making more martial arts driven action judging by the sword play. The many wars refered to could see modern ammo used up?

What really made me laugh was that it took 15 years of no maintainence for trees and plants to take over the cities. Full grown trees growing from all of the skyscrapers, very atmospheric I'm sure but a bit daft. I could see most city centres being no go because of falling glass but trees? I will look forward to seeing this I think to see of it answers a few questions.

Reminds me of the show Aftermath: Population Zero (humanity just disappears). According to the predictions in that 15 years is 15 years too early for trees in buildings: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aftermath:_Population_Zero#3_to_15_years_A.H.

Whatever the premise, it does look very slick.

"How do you feel when you have killed a man?"
"Quite jolly, what about you?"
Sir Richard Burton, when asked by a disapproving doctor.

I suppose the surprise can be spoiled, but still, nobody is paying for the surprise.

Like any responsible adult I have a Five Year Plan. It culminates in me becoming Batman.
