^ Fifa rankings are stupid and bs

but I am a huge england fan, the premier league is the best in the world. It always breaks my heart to see the national team perform poorly. But I think this is actually a pretty good squad. There are a few here who may be a little to old, looking at you gareth barry, but for this will be their last Euro. A bit of a last horrah for some of them. Glad to see Gerrad is healthy enough to play again! My one disappointment with the squad? No Crouch :( sure hes aging, but he didn't do half bad this season, and the robot is a pretty awesome celebration, would have liked to see it one last time.

Id say its between England, Germany, Spain, then maybe France and Italy for 1st. Depends on how their new squads work out. Can't wait though!

A solid enough selection.

I think there's an argument for Crouch instead of Carroll -- Crouch is technically better than most give him credit for and he has a good scoring record at international level -- but Carroll is stronger and on recent form at least is in much better form.

.. took him bloody long enough but that's another rant altogether

Might have taken Holt from Norwich instead of Defoe, he's had a cracking season and deserves a chance at least IMO.

Injuries and suspensions worry me a bit. Parker is a good choice and a probable starter IMO.. if he's fit. But they're already saying he might not be fit at all and might miss the whole tournament...?! Deja vu anyone ?

Still at least we're being honest about things now :

In fairness he would be 121 at the time so it would be an impressive feat he was even selected for the squad.

Might even have goal line technology by then.

In all seriousness, I prefer the NFL to football any day now I've grown up and seen what a bunch of pansies they are despite being British, WEMBLEY HERE I COME!!

The England team is not so bad however, we should have seen some kids coming and the inclusion of that moronic thug Terry.....

yes another fan of the robot dancer! He and carroll both play the same role, but I like Crouch a lot better. Has Carroll ever scored with his head from the 18? Nope but Crouch has. I would have gone for experience over hot and cold performance. Sadly there are not many consistently good English forwards. But I guess defoe isn't the worst choice they could have made, b/c when he is good he is great! I'm just glad they didn't pick Heskey :p

One thing I forgot to mention however was their midfield choice. They only have parker and barry as holders, and barry is ancient! Gerrard, Lampard, Milner, and Chamberlain all play the same offensive role. At least Milner can play on the outside though. Still I would have liked to see Johnson in the starting line up for sure, same player as downing and young, only much better! City won the title, not United!

As an outsider to the england/euro2012 scenario and a massive football fan i`d like to throw in my tuppence worth.

England have some good players but have been a quarter final team and no better for years as has been proven consistently. I never honestly contemplated them reaching the final once unfortunately.
I would love to see some of the players do well as i think they deserve some success. But the team as a whole are rather meh when compared to the top teams in europe and the world.
I hope for englands sake they allow a manager to build a team for maybe the next tourney. Capello started this 3/4 years too late after he realised that this team was done a while ago.

Wish you all good luck anyway.

Nodoby actually thinks England will win anyway, but its just a good tournament. I don't support Manchester United or Barcelona but I still enjoy the champions league.

I think its the same thing, you don't have to actually think you stand a chance to enjoy the tourney.

Obviously, or else nobody in the UK would ever watch anything!

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

We aren't the best team by quite some way, spain, germany and the dutch at the very least are ahead of us. But greece proved that with the right tactics and by being hard to beat, if you can get into the knockouts then anything can happen.

I am also wanting to see them loose from pressure. Or did you mean lose? How are your feelings on the GB Olympic team?

After the spectre of the last England Germany fiasco it looks like football is joining the 21st century.

About bloody time! But I don't think it will last. A few years ago they trialed a system where the referees could move the ball on 10 yards (at a free kick) if the offending team gave the ref lip. It was a brilliant success, so much so, that dissent levels dropped 90%. And what did the FA do? They ditched it!!!

Rugby

It also helps on this end, we can do rather well at Rugby.

As for England 7th in world, if they mean the 7th to be knocked out then maybe, I might even rank them 'higher'. England has too many overpaid, self important, prima-donnas who wont cooperate have no discipline and wont play anything like their best in case they spoil the cash cow that is their league careers.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

To be fair, Orlanth, the rugby players are just as bad. Look at the England squad in New Zealand.
