Oh, and I think we will use your idea for the painting ranking, too.

I'll be there and am looking forward to the event. Any idea how many people we have signed up for the 40k singles?

@Levi

Bummer buddy, we'll miss you. Try and make Brawl in the Fall, we're all going.

@Deeaybur

Not sure, I don't handle ticket sales at all, we're just there to run the event. I believe we're going to get a really good turnout 40K but I honestly can't say for certain.

It's going to be a ton of fun no matter what, though!

@y0disisray

Looking forward to having you!

Tournament Review:

Cost
$45 early bird
$55 Normal
$65 at the door

It's a flat cost that gives you access to everything and all events includes a grab bag and shirt.

There were two shirts one for 40k and one for Warmahordes.

Inside was stuff from Blue Table painting, secret weapon, battlefoam, magnet company and bits.

Also a coupon for $20 battle and a discount coupon.

Events
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aqodLxG4eE0/UBcB94AMf1I/AAAAAAAAAEI/TDjSiwaMT5k/s1600/Duel+Con+Schedule.jpg

Lots to do including a minipainting contest by cool mini or not.

Venue
Hilton Mesa Convention room

Great AC
Lots of room to maneuver
Easy access to bathrooms
The room rates were reasonable under $100 for a double.
Hotel had a restaurant and bar
Water station was provided.

My only complaint would be the food station outside the event.
It was over priced and did not have alot of offerings.

The second day I remembered to bring a cooler and supply my own drinakge and food.

Tables

Battlefoam commissioned Reece of Frontline gaming Fame to run the 40k side so the tables were awesomesauce.
Lots of block LOS and different types of terrain with excelent coverage for every table.

40k Doubles and Singles

Super efficient and well run.

The player packet outlined everything and the BAO format is a nice fit for 6th.

It was so well run that I after prizes and announcements ended at 3:30 on Sunday to give people a chance to make their long treks home.

Prize Support
Raffles, door prizes and 1-3 Best General and 1-2 Best Painting.

The support was generous but my only complaint is the Lack of trophies.

The big winner also received a ticket to Adepticon and paid airfare!

Conclusion

A super well run event with alot of offerings, hopefully this will continue with the same format and grow it's player base.

I noticed that the warmahordes side had alot of people but the 40k could have had a larger group.

It's definitely on my calendar as a goto event.

Here are some more pics from the event.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

#1. I thought the food was reasonable. $5 for a burger is good for a hotel.
#2. Warmahordes is getting popular in Phoenix. There were a lot of former 40k players that were playing over there.

After going 4-1 at Comikazi Con (and my one loss was a fluky one to DE) I thought that my list was pretty good so I only made minor changes. Then I got to find out that my army has a major weakness to Flying Monsterous Creatures. I won 2 games and the 2 loses and a tie were ones that had a Hive Tyrant, a Lord of Change with a Demon Prince, and to Fateweaver and a Demon Prince. They could just fly up behind those large buildings and then the next turn they were in my lines and I have nothing that could kill them. :(

Thats a lot of Necron Air Force armies.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

I am not sure the name of the guy who one or what exactly was in his army list but I believed it was an Orks/Necrons army. I was the guy who had the Ork army in the pictures above and I just wanted to once again thank Reece and Frankie for running the tournament and to the Battlefoam crew for hosting. I had an awesome time and finally got to meet a lot of the people I had only read about till now. There were quite a few Necron Scythe armys there and was hoping to avoid them all tournament till I drew Dave in the last game. Dave is an awesome player and I am really glad I got to meet/play him. This was my first real tournament since Gamesday '09 and was really content with finishing 3-2 especially starting off 0-2 after making some really bonehead decisions with my warbiker squad that made me lose them after 1 turn each game which was like 500 pts! I am looking forward to attending more Frontline Gaming tournaments and I hope to learn from my mistakes so that I may do better in the future.

Hey everyone, thanks for coming out!

We had a great time, and it was awesome to see old friends and make some new ones.

Painting was the only fly in the ointment I think. Pretty sure there was some chipmunking going on, or some missed results. Other than that, it was a smooth running event, and the feedback was damn near all positive. That's great!

Next year will be bigger and better. The hotel was really nice, and we're going to incorporate some more fun factors into it.

Thanks to everyone who came out, see you all at the BAO!

I know I gave you less of a paint score than I should have. I would have given Joshua the first spot and you #2, but when I went to hand in my paint score I completely drew a blank that we played.

I did not really read (or care) about the paint scoring until after game #5 and this scoring system was totally new to the tournament so it was a surprise.

So I had to recall the armies that I played and I remembered the other 4, but our game was just lost to a tired haze. I wandered around the tables after game 5 trying to jog my memory of the army that I played, but I came up with nothing. You might have already packed it up at that point.

Sorry about that.

Opps, it was y0disisray from Tucson that I did not give the correct paint score then. I knew he was from Tucson, and posted above.

And I wanted to go to Tuscon to play some games. When I lived in Mesa I was waiting for Hat's Games to have a tournament so I could drive down for it, but I never saw anything.

I might be able to swing that! It would make it 3 years in a row for me at the BAO.
