Thanks for the compliments! Here is how it is done :

Base Black

wash entire model with scorched brown/water mix 50:50
when dry, stipple Bestial brown in random patches across entire model
then, stipple Macharius Orange in the Bestial brown patches, but leave some of the darker brown showing.
Finally, give a light /medium drybrush of Boltgun metal over all the steel parts. If you are doing parts that are bronze, just subsitute the Boltgun with tin bitz, then highlight with dwarf bronze.

When dry, wash entire figure with 60:40 thrakka green/delvan mud

when dry, wash entire figure with 30:20:50 enchanted blue/dark angel green/water mix...make sure this is very thin with water as you want it to merely stain the figure and run into the cracks.

Once dry, line highlight the whole model with boltgun metal.

And done!

You definately captured the essence of the Matrix robots. That was the first thing that came to mind when I saw your first image. Great job!

I'm going to go watch The Animatrix now.

When I get home I'm going to do SO much coke and ---- hot women. It will be like, 'It's 5pm..., time to do some coke and ---- hot women!'

Finally finished the Ghost Ark! Good lord that model took forever to put together and paint...now I can get back to painting more wraiths!

Tried them out in a game today, and was pleasantly surprised at how well the ghost ark performed. With the changed 6th brought, ghost arks can pump out a surprising amount of firepower. It took down two Razor backs and Mephiston with rapid firing Gauss broadsides and an embarked unit! Nightscythes are excellent transports, and I will be probably including two in the force for expansion, but the Ghost Ark certainly has a place in the force too.

These are great. I guess I've been seeing a lot of necron armies with very very bright glowy bits and everything else airbrushed all to hell, which tends to produce kind of a harsh look - these have much more muted, delicate colours that are more reminiscent of GWs own concept art. Very easy on the eye indeed.

These look amazing. Im going to try to reproduce your oxidized copper look for my 2 stormteks. The osl on the red is really amazing.

You deff nailed the matrix look.

They have a very retro feel too. Almost reminiciant of say Bioshock or Fallout.

Ill be following this avidly. My own necron are a far cry from this level of awesome.

been a while since I updated this, however I am still working on this army. I stalled out on another 6 wraiths, but they are almost finished. I wanted a change of pace, so I picked up a Doomscythe! It is a fantastic model, and it is great for holding it, rushing through the room make pewpew noises too!

Enjoy!
