I like it Rivet, nice work!

IF you would accept some ideas? (i dont know exactly what you have planned for Viktor..)

I would focus on him learning a bit, 'instinctive/innate' is all good for lower spells, but if you are going to make him grow in power (or become a thrall for example), then he will need to learn at some point.

Saying that, i like his quest, and the introduction of the Lady-Lord (Mistress?), and im interested to see where you go with it!

Oh there is plenty planned for Viktor; much more is planned for Cosmina.

Some of the fiction is going to be dependent upon the games that are played however. Regardless, I appreciate the input and there is plenty more where all of this has come from.

May I suggest that make his rise to power a long affarie, since I assume one dose not simply become a master of making dead things become alive again quickly

Like the addition Rivet, keep it up!

Very interested in seeing where you are going with this (and impressed that you are writing your fluff around you Bat Reps )

Well this all started out as an idea. When I first started playing Fantasy, I wanted to do more than just play an army and push little plastic toys around.

So I searched the army book for insight and what not and I found the Hunger Wood. A little bit of land that had a little bit of fluff to it, but not much. I was like HERE! Here is where I shall build my kingdom. It is also what inspired me to have my Vampire Counts main color be green (The owner of my FLGS already had purple Vampire Counts, everyone did Red, my Sisters of Battle were already blue, and i was trying to find options.)

That is about as far as I had developed the background of my army, which I realize is a little more than most, but not much. I always wanted to expand it but I was having trouble coming up with names and I made a new custom Vampire about every 4 weeks... (Seriously I have about 4 that I have made in addition to owning all the character Vampires and the winged Vampire Lord)

Then I took a hiatus from gaming. Upon my return I wanted to do more than just pick up where I left off but I wanted to ease back into it. So I started an escalation league for Fantasy at my FLGS. I encouraged everyone to develop fluff and an army and at the end of this month we are expanding into our 1000 point bracket (started at 500 and that was this month)

... and here we are.

(Put that in the OP of this topic, i dont know about everyone else, but i always like seeing where a person's ideas come from...)

I like the progression, from named characters with their own background to deciding to write your own. As well as an overall bit of fluff for the army in there as well.

Also, good on you for starting an escalation league and getting everyone else on to the fluff-bandwagon, not many are willing to go the extra mile like this, +1 to you good sir!

It is in the OP, just not as spelled out as it is here. Thank you for the +1 we have about 30 people in the escalation league. About 10 of them are writing fluff but hey that is 10 more than were doing it before right? The important thing is a great deal of people are using it to get their armies painted.
(This escalation league did not require people to buy new models and what not. If they had an army they just wanted to finish painting, they could do that)
So we have less of the grey legions at our store now.

I know, i just like how you've put it in here

No problem, its something i didnt have when i first started out, as there was no FLGS. So i look kindly on people who put the effort into starting something for others to join. And theres nothign wrong with getting them involved in fluff-writing, theres more people needed writing! (myself not included ). thats the better way of doing it, allow people to buy more if they want, but allow already done armies. Definitely hold a hardline on painted armies though, thats another thing i missed out on, and often, being forced to paint to stay in an enjoyable league should (hopefully) get them to learn.

We have had a few drop out but life comes first. We have I think about 10 who I think have disappeared never to be seen again. The rest however, are coming a long quite nicely. I feel bad for those who chose Skaven though, so many models /shudder.

Agreed, RL will always come first, but a strong, loyal core of players will mean that you should have plenty to enjoy the league properly.

Hey dont sympathise with them! They chose to play a (competative) Horde army, its their own fault(s)...

now go paint some zombies/skeletons...

So.. many.. skeletons. One thing this league has taught me is an appreciation for unit fillers. (as you can see by my zombie Ogre in my gallery) Oh I just raised 11 more zombies? Ok that is two 40mm unit fillers and 3 zombies. Done.

Definitely, and if done well (as yours are) then unit fillers looks great!

Well thank you! I was quite pleased with how that Ogre came out. I also have several 8 slot unit fillers (because you can easily lose 8 zombies or skeletons in one combat lol) that are graveyards made out of two 40mm bases and headstones!

I hope to add another entry sometime this week.

You're Welcome, and you should be pleased!

Good plan on the fillers, have a look through Red_Zeke's Bat Reps (Relentless), not only are they AMAZING reports, but some of the VC armies he faces have some excellent fillers along the lines of what you are doing i think...Thinking about it, it might be Boss Salvage's reports, but these are also AMAZING, you win either way!

I am curious if it has to do with the switching between Viktor and Cosmina that is disrupting the "flow". The thing is Viktor is not actually the main character, he is a writing tool I used to introduce Cosmina. He is still important and will continue to play his role accordingly, but Cosmina is who this story is really about.

Oh I will, I have just had a busy real life and not had the time to create the next installment. (there should be one more installment before I include the next battle reports to further the story.

Regardless, I am glad people are enjoying the tale of Cosmina and her pet necromancer Viktor.

Some things to look forward to, allies (that are more sentient than the dead) and further development of some of the villains and the introduction of the main antagonist.

mwahahahahahaha...

Im not sure, it may just be the structure of that particular section. Re-reading it, it may just be something as simple as the order of events (ie, when she notices the silence/stillness, when she notices the armour, when she feels the dark enegies etc.). Its not bad in any way, so please dont feel like im criticising, it just may need some playing with in the future. I would play aroudn with it and PM you, but im stupid busy atm and im out tonight as well...*sigh* the prossures of a busy life

Thank you for the confirmation, i had a feeling the story was growing beyond Viktor dont forget him though, use him (as im sure you intedn) to link various characters togather if you can...
