Back again! Very briefly, of course. Two weeks of school already, and my time for updating this blog is growing shorter. Well, I was able to accomplish quite a bit over the break, so at least there's that. However, this does not mean I'll stop. It just means there will be more time between updates. I would like to thank everyone who has followed this thread so far, and would encourage you to continue, as it gives me a measure of motivation to continue building the army.
Speaking of which...

I finally broke down and got a Finecast character. Anrakyr was difficult to resist not to get.

And here are some other things I can move to if the current project is getting boring. Oh yeah, I'm also working on constructing and priming a Doomsday Ark as well. Pics will be coming up soon as I can get some decent progress going.

Despite what I kept hearing about Finecast and its many, MANY imperfections and flaws, this model at first glance wasn't too bad.

For example, I didn't see any horrible disfigurations, the staff didn't look too bad (boy, does that sound awful), and the flash was fairly easy (easier than plastic, actually) to clean up.

And then I looked even closer at the model....
You know, I'm not at all irritated about the tiny holes and such on the model, but the fact that there appear to be lots of them here and there is... annoying. Especially in the little crevices which look difficult to reach. Now, maybe other people at my FLGS will look at it and go, "Hey, that doesn't look too bad!" when it's nice and painted and all that. Yet, I know that the little perfectionist in me is screaming his head off and is in danger of blowing all of his blood vessels at once. So this means I will have to go out and get some liquid green stuff, maybe an extra tool to help me if I really need it and I have to do all this extra work JUST to get the model ITSELF to a standard that I am satisfied with...
Maybe this is a good stopping point right now. I'm just going to stop right here before I take even more drastic measures. Hesitantly puts the flamethrower down No, I wasn't planning to burn GW down... really, I wasn't...
Well, there ya have it. Despite the setback, I am very eager to get to work painting Anrakyr, and I will be updating you guys on him when I have the chance.
Stay tuned!

The Necron Finecast range is more vulnerable to miscast than others, it must be admitted. You got a pretty good cast.

For the particle cannon, how about a yellow glow?

Anyway, this is a great blog, keep up the good work!

Sigh... has it really been almost a month since my last update?
Well, I did say at the very beginning this blog wouldn't receive much updates, especially as the semester gets heavier. Maybe this weekend I can make more progress.
In the meantime, I've been getting more and more interested in Chaos Space Marines, more specifically the Word Bearers Legion. It may very well be I'll have some of those guys up here, at least the test models.
I would also like to thank everyone who has subscribed to the blog thus far and has left comments. I won't keep you disappointed for much longer! (Maybe)

I HAVE RETURNED FROM THE ABYSS!!!
(I hope the mods don't kill me for this...)
So, it has been a few months, at least, since I have updated this blog for anything at all. School, holidays, Anime Los Angeles, and vacation did their part in allowing time to work on any modelling whatsoever. I feel rather rusty getting back into the slow swing of things, hopefully not for long. I do have some delicious updates for this small, yet burgeoning work blog. This time, it is of a Chaotic flavor...

Why, hello there, Christmas present! Glad to see you within my workshop!
In case people can't tell, it's a set for a Decimator Daemon Engine. As soon as this baby was put up on the site, I knew I had to get one.

The finished Siege Claw. Gods, I spent a while filing out all the flash and other odds and ends with this thing, and it still has a bit left-over!

I also have been working on the torso section (pics to come later), and that's also been quite a lot of work as well.
I figure this Daemon Engine will be painted in the colors of the Word Bearers. After reading "The First Heretic", I fell in love with this Legion. Seriously, not even the Thousand Sons have anything on these guys in terms of tragic background story. Anyways, I am sure Lorgar would appreciate seeing this machine beast serve the Bearers of the Word, crushing the Imperial lapdogs into so much red pulp.
More to come...

Decided to take a small break from schoolwork this weekend to go back to my models! A quick update: got the top half of the Decimator parts primed and ready to paint. Did some more work on the Doomsday Ark, but not quite enough to warrant pics, I believe. Fortunately, I do have some things to show off.

Decided to tackle my Overlord again. this time, I gave some color to his loincloth and his Scythe. I also swapped his regular head with one from the Triarch Praetorians kit, so he looks more regal. I was pondering on whether or not to paint it white...

A close-up of the scythe. I tried to go for a power-weapon look for this, but I feel like it could use a bit more work before it's up to snuff.

And finally, my LanceTek. Fluffwise, they use their staffs to shoot pure energy into the enemy ranks, killing them in a most non-subtle way. Going off of this, I painted this LanceTek with white armor. He believes in purity of destruction, and wanted to reflect this both in appearance and in combat.

Thanks for looking at this blog, and stay tuned!

I like it! Nice job on the Lancetek.

Why, thank ye kindly, Squig! Just need a few finishing touches on the staff, and he should be table-top ready.

Finished! Well, mostly, anyway. At least now, I can consider Valdrakh to be table-top ready. I really think the bronze cape turned out real well in this case.
The basing was a combination of real beach sand and fine gold-ish hobby sand.
So, there are two things I want to eventually do for Valdrakh: 1) give the bronze cape an oxidized look, especially on the edges where it would scrape the floor, and 2) work on the basing a little more just so it's consistent.
Next time I update, it will hopefully be a second Barge finished, or at least on its way, and maybe some progress on the Doomsday Ark.

Hello, there! My, it has been quite awhile since I last updated. I sincerely apologize for the long absence, but I'm back now. Let's get started, shall we?

So, here's the second barge! I went for the more ornate head instead of the regular one. I also tried to keep it as close to the first one as possible, for reasons of consistency.

A close up shot of it.

Unlike my first Barge, however, this one sports magnets, and will allow for interchangeable underslung guns. Like my Triarch Stalker before, it gives it flexibility in what to bring for wargear, and can show weapon destroyed result! I really love these magnets... well, when they actually behave the way I want them to. The biggest challenge is trying to place them after setting the glue, and not have them flip around on the spot.
Gosh... makes me sound like I'm managing mental patients rather than magnets.

I also did some work on the Decimator Engine. I gave the shoulder pad a nice layer of Red Gore and the start of the Mithril Silver. Actually, the red still looks a bit splotchy and uneven in some places, but it makes it look possibly as it it's intentional, as if the daemon engine is constantly painted with fresh blood after each battle. Maybe I can give the silver a bit of red wash to make it more intentional?

Well, that's it for my update. I will be making some adjustments to my Immortals, and perhaps do some more work on the Doomsday Ark. Until next time, thanks for viewing my blog!

Hey, thanks Squig!
Well, I'm taking a quick break from my Necrons to showcase my slow downfall to Chaos... Specifically, towards the Word Bearers Legion!
A while back, I traded for a few used models from another dakka user. When I first received them, they were completely CAKED in black paint. Turns out some of them had a layer of red paint underneath that as well! Thankfully, I had Simple Green at my side, and together we worked for about four-five days cleaning them up to beautification level zero and re-positioning a few. Now that I have a firm interest in starting a Word Bearers army after finishing my Necrons, I decided to use some of these as test models.

Here he is from the front.

...And from the back.

I tried to get a close-up to show his blue eye lenses, but my camera can't do up close and personal shots. I might need a new one...

Overall, I think he came out very well, indeed! I really wanted to go for the look of a deep, dark red with not too much purple or pink in there, just a nice arterial-blood color, and I think I succeeded in that endeavor.
Hopefully by next update, I'll have more Crons up on the page.
Thanks for viewing, and please subscribe if you like it!

Ah, thank you, good sir! I think I finally have the red down, very dark and to my likings. I'm glad you like it as well!
