Wow!
Incredibly awesome! I'm in love with the proportions you've given the marines, the balance of slimming and bulk that the armor has at this scale. Your art has a perfect balance of realism and fantasy that's difficult to achieve.
You mentioned your friend contacting GW to make sure it was okay and no violation of IP, but did you or would you offer to display your work for them if they were interested?

Ahh cheers man.... hum, no idea... I dont think GW would be interested in displaying them... I mean GW have some of the best painters, sculptors and dio builders in the UK....

OOOOWWW yes... plenty... Basically a friend Cbob) and I decided a Marine would never happen... so lets build a couple... the bigest decision we had to make was what about scale! 1/6th marine would be about 14 inchs tall... but the re arent many 14 inch bodies nnd they are really expensive... so we built them to fit a 12" figure....
Here are some pics...
I made the chest and shoulder pads... and Cbob sculpted the amazing helmet....
But as you can see the scale was a wee bit out.... but we kept going.... Cbob them made a foot... and the first backpack and a bolter and a chainsword!!! he was really on it

with the basics made the rest was down to me to get cracking on the moulds..... it was then we realised.. the heads just looked way to big... we were gutted...
We found smaller heads worked better.....
Now the project was really coming alive and I decided to remake the backpack....

I also learnt to shrink moulds... which meant we could use any head we wanted... and also I shrunk the gel to get the scale right....
eventually I remade the bolter made the thighs bigger and the chest armour......

Ahh guys you are all tooooo kind.. I am just regular guy who likes making dollies  ... right First off Salamanders.... OOOWW yes he is my next build.... and its gonna be one of the toughest yet as I am no sculptor but I want to do the relief on the armour.
I have a rough idea what I am going to do.... but I need to finish the Chaplain first and also make some more headway on Cpt Angelos...

These are good enough to make a stop motion movie with.
Some of the best things I have ever seen.

Every Dakkanaught gets a 4+ Pinch of Salt save.
When you suffer a Falling Sky hit, roll a D6 - on a 4+ the hit is ignored as per the Pinch of Salt save. On a 1-3 panic insues - you automatically fail common sense tests for the next 2 weeks and get +7 to your negativity stat. -Praxiss

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest! |
