Well if you are of certain "faiths" God forgives all, if you ask someone else to speak to Him on your behalf, and then you are good for the week. You can then go home, do all those drugs, steal from grandma, and stab a guy, so long as on Sunday you ask someone else to ask forgiveness for you, then tell you that you need to repeat meaningless prayers over and over to cover the spiritual cost.
Let's just hope that Jesus doesn't return on Saturday before you've had a chance to clear the ledger for the week.

Wait a minute did someone hack frazzs acount?
Anyway the whole "JC didn't say it so it doesn't apply" is just a rhetorical trick.
Frazz or (Frazz imposter) try reading Mark 10:6-9
Not to mention the fact that the Church is built on JC's teaching's and the teachings of the Apostles, the chief of which was Paul. If you disregard Pauls teachings on the matter (which these Episcopalians are doing) they are not teaching true Christian doctrine..and may as well be a cult.
Anyway this was prophesied in the Bible
2nd Tim 4:3 (NIV) For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

Frazzled hasn't exactly been opposed to gay marriage.
His opinion is more "I don't honestly care, it doesn't effect me."
But ignoring the fact that the bible has been changed to add in homophobia that wasn't there in the original text, most Christian sects tend to argue that the Old Testament is the old covenant, and that the New Testament a new covenant for Christians. I mean, otherwise they'd outlaw cutting your beard.

Not poppycock. The KJV added in numerous references to witchcraft that weren't there, for example, and changed numerous words for condemnation to "abominable", which wasn't a good translation in most cases. Other examples changed translations of words to condemn acts, or to make them less condemned, added text that wasn't there, or completely and utterly altered the nature of the text. Fix'd, not directed at you Mel just a general statement about Christians and the Bible. I can fit what they usually know about it in a three page paper (double spaced, size 12 font).

That's not KJV, that's the Textus Revisitus, which the KJV is based on and is a generally horrible translation of texts all around. Mostly its only baffling because you'd think the Byzantines would be better than others at translating Greek accurately cause they're NT is just as bad as their OT. Everyone, well, everyone who ever bothered looking it up, knows KJV is a horrible translation. Its only really used in the US these days and only because of cultural traditions from jolly old England.
The validity of the anti-homosexual passages aren't debated. They were debated in the 80's but it was crap then and everyone realized it by the 90's. No one in their right mind calls Romans into question (most of the Pauline Epistles the most stable and accurate of all Biblical texts over time) and Leviticus predates Josiah's reforms, the only major alteration to Old Testament texts.
In case you weren't paying attention... and you weren't... I was referring to religious sects.
Not individuals.
I fail to see the problem. A religious sect is made of individuals who presumably share the same opinions. And actually most sects don't hold that opinion at all, so I don't know where you got that idea. But official doctrine is rarely in line with the general followers of any Christian denomination anyway so it hardly matters.

Actually, they are. Quite frequently. In fact, the meanings behind Paul in Romans is still disputed today. The original Greek in Romans didn't even mention sexuality at all, instead referring to Christians who at the time had reverted to paganism, participating in orgiastic rites and drug use (where STDs often spread quite widely). The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

To be clear, I'm no Catholic, but was raised as one, in a Catholic private boarding school. The Bible was the only book we were allowed to read at night...
And even the 'judged on the other side' thing is sketchy, since it's also dogma that what's proclaimed by the Church on Earth will be honored in Heavens. Honestly, Catholic metaphysical laws could teach the Imperium about redundant bureaucracy...
I mean, after 27 years on this planet, seems to me that if God is really going to judge everyone on some chart of laws that are pretty much absolutly impossible to perfectly score on, then He is a dick and I do not care to impress Him the slightest. In fact, I'll take His job, I bet I can do it a lot better...

I was taught that God will make allowances for people that are trying to live as good as they can with the knowledge they have, and gives them opportunities to learn all of his truth on the other side.

I was taught that you better be a good little Christian (of [insert preacher's chosen sect of the month here]), or you'll burn in hell. Most of my actual knowledge has come from research rather than teachings. Preachers are notorious demagogues and rhetoricians.
