I'm trying the guns mod out, if people end up not liking it i can always just put it back (which will probably happen)
the advantage of spout is that I can do whatever I want, custom zombies/blocks/ect. and it just will automatically migrate to the client on login.

After much fooling around today, and ending with my suicide by jumping off a skyscraper, I've learned much about the guns mod and will begin in earnest tomorrow. Maybe I'll fortify my tower or something, ghasts seem to be the biggest issue up there, but nothing a good 3 round burst can't handle

Sorry guys I forgot to set the server to not hibernate when inactive, the server is back up now

I also made some quick changes, increased time for fire healing so we don't get another eternally burning tree, loot tables should work now, villagers should sometimes hulk out into an iron golem when they diem silverfish sometimes spawn from dead enemies and are sort of "bonus loot" critters that drop metal ores and such and iron/metal/diamond/ect. blocks do not drop anything upon destruction so no more mining the subway for infinite iron

their damage does regenerate on its own

Edit: Or I would, if the client wouldn't say 'Operation timed Out' when trying to connect to the server. I am doing something wrong?

Just went on using the technic pack vanilla because that always says 'Checking for Spoutcraft Update' when it loads. Still get flint.

I don't think I can really play if it needs spout.

Can play without it. It's just guns.

Perhaps, if it were possible to choose what they appear as to people without it, the ammo could be arrows or randomise between feathers and flint.

Yeah, that would be good. Make it close so Guns are various weapons, ammo is arrows and the flamethrower is a flint and steel.

A lot of the modern texture packs change weapons into well....modern ones. In Moderncraft the bow is a shotgun, whilst flint and steel is a lighter (and the swords are turned into police batons). In the Fallout style ones the weapons are from the games, etc. If you don't want to use Spoutcraft....but still want guns then just use a texture pack.

^^ But the Quarantine texture pack is of course the only one you should use with the server. ...Because gas masks and hazmat suits are awesome. XD

they are flint because next patch I will change them into emeralds so you can trade with villagers for arrows and such.

I dont know, whenever the next minecraft patch it, lol
i'll have to wait a little after that since there won't be any trade-mods out right away obviously but i'll do it as soon as i can.

okay so i logged in to check things out and there were 485 mobs spawned....
I butchered them and set the world limit to 100, let me know if things get out of control again, lol.

Depending on the mods though, if they get broken or something with it. Usually they seem to lag about 2-3 weeks behind at most if they have a diligent team on them. Snapshots may make it easier as well.

Guns aren't great, but easily could be. If they were a little more powerful, then maybe. Also, the sprites don't fit with the rest of the game at all :(
