I'm not clear with the rules for assaulting inside ruins on diffrent levels, but if i recall correctly the guy 3 lvls up can assualt the groun lvl people. So if a MC has his base inside the ground lvl shouldn't it be able to assault three lvls up but not 4? I have to reread the ruins rules, this doesn't come up often because I rarely see MC's at my local shop.

I need to return some video tapes.

There is always something to complain about. Hey it's a dumb rule, I don't have to like it. It's not going to stop me from playing, but I will try and avoid WAAC guys. I play this game for the thematic gameplay and fluff. I imagine a trygon thrashing a ruin to get the guys inside. Not, a trygon standing out in the rain, looking forlorn because he's not allowed to play.
Doesn't stop you whining about it either, apparently.

It's interesting that you seemed to use me playing GK as a disparaging remark. Due to the 10 or so active Tyranid players at my FLGS, I've always associated 'Nid players as excellent sports and genuinely enjoyable opponents, despite the obvious rules difficulties with their respective armies. Shame this is evidently not always the case.

Seriously, take Deathreaper's advice and deal with it. Write to an Agony Aunt if you want sympathy. YMDC is for rules issues, not gamer tissues.

Once again, coming from a GK player, the opinion is largely moot. I had a rules questions, it was answered. I was disappointed with the rule and remarked as such. But, it seems that since you're ok with a rule, that doesn't even affect you really, that everyone should have accepted it.

Wait why is this turning into a hatefest? Really? This is no longer about discussing a rule. I think the rule is dumb but I'll deal with it, why is it that if a person says, "hey, I don't like that rule," the internet explodes with people who all think you're a jerk for not liking it? You guys got personal stakes in GW and don't want any bad talk? Learn to be more civil dudes.

On page 98, in the 'moving within ruins' section it says: "accordingly, only infantry, beasts, jetbikes, skimmers and ALL TYPES of jump and jet pack units can move on the upper levels of a ruin. It seems to me that Jump MCs are explicitly given permission to move around in ruins.

Wasn't it like this in 5th as well?

5th ed I believe they could move up levels as long as the model could physically be placed on the level.

Beasts were flatly refused the ability to change levels though; not nearly such a loss considering the only beasts in the list were raveners.

Well I would call his AP3 Force weapon a downside for a single model unit, and his lack of Smash and Fear Etc.

He has Smash. His spell makes him S10 for NO loss of attacks.
And re-rolling to hit every round of CC is a bit better than a fear test that doesn't affect 90% of opponants.

A solution - befor game starts - is treat buildings like vehicles.

Say a Mawloc attacks the occupied building, roll for penetrating (determine the building's armor -11, 12.... glancing is no effect or need multible) if successful roll results
building rocks or everyone thrown to floor, or heavy weapon dies (or one troop falls to his death) building topples and all take strength 4 hits,

or building colapses and Mawloc and all occupants take hits.

As for any assault, a monster has to first bash away the building to get at the tender morsels inside. Likewise the guys inside can only shoot or toss grenades, unless they want to jump out of cover....

Larger buildings can count as 2 or more vehicles.

Nom Nom Nom sez the carnifex.

FMC are treated as jump MCs so actually they can land in the top floors of ruins.

One of his psychic powers makes him str 10, so he gets most, if not all (don't know if he re-rolls armor pen) of the effects of smash, but doesn't lose half of his attacks from it.

His STR is simply made to 10, nothing else. And he still has to make a psychic check for it.

Except Smash gives AP2, and Force Weapons have only AP3.

he only re-rolls 1's to hit and wound since they changed how preferred enemy works.

Sheesh. Poor, inacurate insults aside, have you READ Smash? Smash makes your attacks AP2. His attacks are not AP2. Smash *Attacks* double S and reroll armour penetration. Which he only gets half of.

In short: he does NOT get Smash, as smash sets you to AP2 on all attacks. Meaning terminators now laugh at him, as he is AP3.
