In most cases zombies are individuals infected with a disease of sorts which strips them back to primal instincts and makes them crave human flesh.

Any sort of game, really. There are so many zombie variants out there its hard to tell.

I will try to summarize the types:

1) Infected : Your typical zombie that has been resurrected by disease, or some sort of chemical agent. Examples include Resident Evil 1-3 (T-Virus), Dead Island (generic virus) and Dead Rising (wasp virus)

2) Infested : A corpse (or living person!) being controlled by a parasitic organism. Examples include Daemites (Bloodrayne), Headcrab Zombies (Half life) and Las Plagas/Magini (Resident Evil 4-5)

3) Supernatural : A corpse risen by magic or something similar. Examples include those zombies in Lollipop Chainsaw....
and that's all I could think of for that category, honestly. Well, I guess Daemites could count, since they are demonic parasites...but that wouldn't really be fair.
OH! And the Zombified Stalkers in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. Their creation is so bizarre and far fetched, it might as well be magical.

So which one counts for this discussion? 1, 2 or 3?

There's something ballsy about a 80 something year old war veteran who can still kick ass.
Especially if the ass in question is barely human.

How is Bill a contender? He dies in 'The Sacrifice' and it's addressed in 'The Passing' dlc. I voted for Francis-Jayne Cobb from Firefly in video game form. Yes please. Woody and Shaun would get my votes if movie characters counted, but this is video game only.

Wait, there's a firefly video game?
Are reavers even infected? I know they were in the movie, not so sure about the T.V show though.

Leon Kennedy fought Las Plagas, not infected zombies. There's a post earlier on this page that clarifies what types of zombies this thread is about.
A pity though, because Las Plagas are pretty nasty. I mean, goddammit, decapitating the host just makes it more dangerous!

Nope, he was a main character in RE2 as well. So, if Claire Redfield is on the list, shouldn't Leon be on it as well? He did just as impressive things, if not more in that game.

Because you get more weapons, there are more zombies, and the most important part...you can hack a swarm of zombies up with a samurai sword!! Right...not as good as the first. The only issue I had with the second was with how quickly it followed the first: why not just make everything into one game, instead of two separate ones? Money grubbing...only bad thing about the sequel.

Ash from Evil Dead isn't here, they made a handful of games, given his cult status in the films, he would probably win

Is the photographer fella from Dead Rising in the list? A definite contender on the strength of his resourceful methods of creating zombie-based carnage, a notable example being the excavator drill!

Lollipop Chainsaw is pretty fun, if you like crazy games (In true Suda51 style), hack'n'slash combo fighting, crude jokes, metal and punk music (Jimmy Urine from MSI is the first boss). So yeah, very OTT and right up my street lol. Equally as good as Shadows of the Damned if you played it.
