The casualties were attributed simply to a lack of training/ user error. HiCom saw the value in the armor, but the tests showed a need for a specialized training program.

That seems odd...
With a weapon i could understand but if you need specialised training to use armour then the armour isn't simple enough... I mean it's armour. All it has to do is stop bullets...
Now a strength/speed enhancing suit of armour would make more sense since it'd take some acclimatising and training.

It's a kind of power-armor with an integrated exo-skeleton (so, it would increase speed and strength (Loki nearly killed a guy with one kick and out ran Thom while jogging(Ch.1))). The shield generators/projectors alone would be pretty complex though.

If you have to consciously use the shield generators then there is no point having them unless it's some kind of gauntlet shield such as the Halo Jackals...
It's easier to say the armour is just really expensive and it's not worth making in such large quantities for regular infantry.

The shields operate on their own, projecting just over the armor itself (all of it). The thing is, when it takes damage, it fluctuates in weird waves and static as an active countermeasure to whatever is inflicting damage, until the shields dissipate. Users would need to be trained to keep track of the shields as well as maintenance, etc. Regular forces don't have too much info on the Legionaries, it's all locked up in black ink, classified. As far as an average grunt knows, the Legionaries just show up and kick ass, etc.

Keeping track of the shields shouldn't be too hard given some UI monitoring...
Otherwise the armour need a software upgrade...
But your other points are perfectly valid.

Anybody going to put in suggestions for a Legionary of their own? We did sort of get of on a tangent there, productive though.

After going through the rules again, it seems like I've simplified the standard model down to six stats, including their cost. No more long stat lines to remember. Given games will usually consist of 5-10 models per side, it probably won't be too hard to memorize your units' stats.

Almost done! http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/372592/Olah.docx

Also, I never mentioned that the game's setting is around the year 2500, about the time that man discovers FTL travel.

Another thought:
When I start adding more powerful units/models, should I leave them as the wholly-customizable mix-n-match setup that the current units are, or should I introduce them as characters from the fluff with predefined stat-lines and a choice of weapons?
On the way: Campaign rules, and a "free-for-all" game-type where 4~8 players can each use armies limited to one model.

Also, I'm looking for people to volunteer as proofreaders, play-testers, writers, idea-makers, fanatics-of-the-number-seven, and other(oh, the possibilities). Anyone who wants to help may simply PM me to get the ball rolling. Anyone who contributes will be credited in the final rules/fluff document (either by their real name or a moniker, if they so choose)

Stay classy, and remember that the sevens are EVERYWHERE!

Yes beginning to read now and so far it looks good. Granted I am no genius when it comes to such things but its well explanied and it seems to be easy to get a hold of. I am basing this of my inital read and would need to test the rules on the tabel before making any educated statement on how they play. But all in all I like it

This is nice man, i really envy your dedication and writing ability

Thanks a ton.
I've got a ton of new rules added to the game. The ruleset as a whole is really beginning to feel complete. After my college applications and such I'll get back to the novella. I have some new CAD terrain and objective markers that I haven't uploaded.

Sorry folks, I assure you that a 3rd chapter is in the works and it will knock your socks off... with aliens and crash landings and cliffhangers and lead-ins (because I have to keep the current story arch going until chapter 5 is done...)
