Best solution if a cat is your problem? Keep your dog close by.

My cat's used to jump on my work table all the time and knock stuff on the floor. I've found two things helpful. The first was a perimeter line of night goblin with spears. They learned to look for them before jumping.

While that was 80% effective I heard that cats won't jump on anything that leans out at a 45 degree angle. Idk why though but it seems to work. As in all the time. Haven't had a problem since.

They still want up in my lap occasionally and I found if I let them up and then keep tapping my foot they want back down very soon.

I'll look into this. For me the tapping foot thing just makes them want to stay even more haha.

My cat prefers to play with brushes - generally I let him do it, since it prevents him walking on my paintstation and accidentaly pushing things down the floor, but if that "wanted" brush is in the waterpot that can cause some problem. Actually cats are fine - walking toddlers are far more dangerous, because they are less intelligent and more determined than an adult cat + they have extended reach.

Perhaps if you do it a little harder so there's a little shock wave the cat can feel, that usually keeps mine sharp.

Irt: CainTheHunter

Yes i've noticed that too. And besides brushes and tools cats seem to like long things they can't really keep in control. I once let my cat play with a standard ball point and about half an hour later it was fully disassembled..

And i haven't done this but perhaps a plant-sprayer filled with water would do the trick in a day or 2.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

Put a bit of cream or yoghurt on their nose. Pretty funny but it probably won't keep them off for long

Sliced lemons is supposed to work in the garden, not sure if that could carry over to the paint station. Just leave a tray on the floor with 'em out. Cheap and not hazardous to kitty.

(I think the citrus zest is supposed to put them off peeing on your plants, like I say no idea if it'd carry over in doors, one way to find out though

Do you remember that kids story of the lion that killed loads of people this village, until some guy goes out to kill? It's skin was so hard that spears couldn't punch through it, and arrows just bounced off it? The story goes that the lion pounced on the hunter, who fell backwards with his spear raised at a 45 degree angle. The lions own weight forced the spear point through its heart, killing it instantly.

That's why your cat's sat there with a protractor, it's working out if these gobbos are of any danger to it, it's species-memory or something. Put goblin archers up though and I guarantee it'll jump

That's a brilliant image I've got as well, of these goblins coming to life at night and protecting your work bench from feline dangers while you sleep. Like the Brownies in Willow lol

Plant sprayer will work fine - but is quite a cruel weapon I keep it for those occasions when he decides to get some immediate attention by scratching furniture. Now I only have to grab the sprayer and show it to the cat and he withdraws immediately... But from another point of view, he still got his attention... So cat wins anyway...

This is exactly the image I got when I thought of a line of Night Gobbos on the desk.. But also the imminent danger my elbows were in. One wrong move and I'm a pin cushion. My families cat fortunately does not find my work station interesting at all. She likes my dresser that I use as an impromptu display case however, but she's pretty careful stepping around and I haven't seen any Orks go for a trip a la cat mouth.

Silly answers aside....

Use a harmless spray bottle with water, if that doesn't work (even my cats impervious to that now).

My cat hates the sound of those compressed air cans, dont spray it AT your cat as there is harmful chemicals if its ingested directly. Just fire it off and the noise it makes should scare the gak out of him.

My can is long since been empty, but all I need to do is grab the can and he freaks out and runs out of the room.

My cat is a bulldozer and loves to walk through my models, no finesse about this kitty either.

Doesn't work if they were raised together, my cat sleeps on the dog.

Just what I thought

Imperial guard: Because quantity has a quality of it's own.

Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.

After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right.

My cat likes to nest in my mini's, and when I paint, if they jump on my desk I have learned to not shoo them. Ever time I shoo them away or spray them or do anything to rush them from getting off they either dump my water can, step in my wet pallet ( which was fun) or knock over my wip minis. Every morning i get up and at least one or two is knocked down, I swear they hate 40k.

My dog on the other hand think they taste delicious. They work together. The cats knock them off the desk and the dog eats them. I lost an Emperors champ, two ork bois, and a bunch of bits.

Dont get me started on animal hair, I have almost had an embolism over it.

mine seem to enjoy my 40k lol.

i swear they want to join my army as Feline Attack Titans.
Im half wanting to craft them some plastic armor and guns... and give them rules...
And i have 4 of them! (2 grey, 1 black, and 1 black and white.)
Titan Legion MONOCHROME

Feline Attack Titan.
AV/SP: Invincible
Attacks: Whatever they knock over or swats dies instantly. No Saves of Any kind work, and no "comes back from the dead" stuff like that stupid GK guy.... YOUR DEAD!!

Special Rules:
Independant: the Feline Attack Titan never takes orders and goes about its business no matter what.
Undirectable: Can attack both Enemy and Freindly units. what it attacks is utterly random
Lazy: If the Feline Attack Titan lies down to sleep or rest, it counts as dangerous Terrain. If the Feline Attack Titan gets up, any units that are on the Feline Attack Titan and fall off instantly Die.
Transport: If a model manages to stay aboard the Feline Attack Titan as it walks, it counts as a open topped transport and can fire from the Titan or disembark at any time.

edit: oh yes. I love the Hetzer Vindicator Death. its awesome.

Thanks.

I'm in the process of turning it into a chaos vindicator as I sold that army in the pic off (all but the Hetzer and the rhino).

Btw your army is really impressive.

One of our three like to hang out on the table I paint at, but doesn't knock anything aside. I had an army of GK that I posted up on Craigslist on a card table in my office, and they left that completely alone. I think it's because they rarely see me sitting at it, so they don't go to it for attention. I was certain that I was going to come home to find a couple of dreadknights on the floor, but nope.

I out with in both 40k and WHFB.

I figured out a way to distract them this weekend... take sprues with all the bits cut out and just leave that on the carpet for them to try and pick up. Then again I don't know if I want to be cutting out EVERY bit from a sprue when I'm working on something. I'd need lots of PLANO storage containers.

As for outwaiting a cat ...
I housesat for friends with two cats.
They had bi-fold bedroom doors that opened inwards - and when the cats wanted in, they just jumped at the doors until they opened (said friends were stupid and never considered bolts on the doors to stop them folding up).

I just sat my bag on the inside of the doors, preventing them from opening. Middle of the night, I hear a pair of thumps. Then a while later, a couple more. Then nothing. When I got up, cats were asleep on the couch.

Damn you. I just spent 45 minutes putting my 11month old son to sleep, and you almost made me wake him up with my laugh...

As an owner of two curious furballs, I can recomend going to a petstore, and ask for a "spray to keep cats out of your garden"..,
I got one called "cat off" or something. Just take it out, spray it on a tisdue and leave it on the table whilst I paint. Smells a tad funky, but hey, the cats stay 10feet away from it...

The garden stuff works the best. You could also use chilly powder but that's somewhat messy. Used it to stop my neighbors cats from pooping on my porch. Only took once and they don't come on my porch anymore.
