Also on PC. Are the DLCs ever going to come down in price? $10 seems a little steep for such a small addition.

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

PC player here as well. I imagine they will go down in price eventually. From what I read on the official forums a while ago, people who were playing the DLCs were complaining that they were having trouble finding matches in anything but the original game modes. I don't know what it's like now though. I play the original from time to time and I haven't had any problems finding games. It's sad that the DLC divides an already very small community.

That is very true. Maybe if a Steam sale comes along everyone will get the DLC and everyone will be playing it. I can dream right?

I've been getting back into this game and have been trying out the tactical marine in Exterminatus. I've been having heaps of fun with the meltagun and find pairing it with another gun really effective. I usually take either a plasma gun or bolter with kraken rounds. When plasma gunning I mastercraft my grenades with my second perk, I haven't unlocked many of the tactical marine's guns. It's a real shame you can't unlock perks in Exterminatus mode.

I find Melta really annoying to use in exterminatus, as well as Kraken bolts. As a fall back gun melta's not great. I usually run Stormbolter, stalker, regular bolter, and occasionally vengeance launcher. A tac with serrated blade, bolter and stalker can be effective in early levels as a Jack of all trades.

Having said that, I usually run Plasma dev or KB hammer assault marine.

Yeah, in exterminatus, you really need to dodge like a madman if you want to use the meltagun.

I dont remember the exact loadout, but for tactical i always took the plasma gun but for the other classes i had a few loadouts.

Edit: This post is in regards to Exterminatus, not PVP.
I used to think the same about the meltagun, I didn't like it at all. It's only since I've used it recently that it became my favourite TAC gun. Every class needs an Area of Effect weapon, so for TAC I think you need melta, plasma or vengeance launcher. You hardly need to dodge at all, the meltagun will kill or stun any threats. It works like a combination of a flamer and shotgun.

Kraken bolts aren't great, but they are versatile. I am usually using them at long range, but a stalker boltgun or plasma gun might be the better option.

RE: The combat knife on TAC. This doesn't seem to make a difference to me. Against weak enemies you kill them super fast anyway and against tough enemies you'd be crazy to melee. When I have a slot left over I usually mastercraft my frag grenades.

Currently I am rocking a Havoc with a Heavy Bolter and the Ammunition Stores and Heavy Bolter Coolant Perks.

You might not be as well protected as you would using the armour perks but damn, you make up for it in what you can put out in fire power.

Just got up to the bonus wave in Exterminatus with just 3 people playing. 2 of us were rocking TAC with plasma gun and melta gun. It is my new favourite load out.

Im a 360 player here, I went back on last night for the first time in ages. We had a team of 4 tactical and we got to the bonus wave, I went down due to lag and the chaos maul guys (the host quit because the wave wasnt loading, damn annoying glitch).

For exterminatus I use tactical with vengeance launcher, storm bolter and larimans blessing. Vengeance launcher is very useful for dealing with large mobs of enemies and the storm bolter is good for everything else. I find other weapons lack the rate of fire to deal with nobs and 'ard boyz on the later rounds, only trouble is vengeance launcher and storm bolter run out of ammo very quickly.

I think running out of ammo quickly is a weakness among all tactical load outs. Even if you take two weapons and extra ammo perks, you will always run low. That's why I dread having 4 tactical marines in a game, the ammo is going to run out very fast and everyone is going to be grabbing up anything that drops. Having at least one assault marine helps a lot. Even devastators don't seem to chew through ammo as fast as tactical marines.

For Exterminatus I tried rocking a Tactical Marine with Meltagun, Larramans Blessing, Serrated Combat Blade and Combat Stimulants. Seemed to work ok, just got to get out quick if things get too much to let the Larramans kick in.

The difficulty I find with assault marines is on the later waves they go down extremely quickly to all the 'ard boyz without being able to inflict that much damage before having to fly off again. I find using a devastator quite difficult because they cant dodge out the way of damage the same as the other two classes and no weapon setup I find has the same damage output as tactical/assault.

Yeah, assault are definitely less effective in the later rounds. I find the best thing to do is cover your team mates and make sure they don't get overwhelmed while they deal with the bigger threats at range.

Really?

The only times I've beaten the last waves was when the party was three assaults, and a devastator.

I really like the devastator with heavy bolter.

I thought I would like the lascannon, as I tend to like sniper-type weapons, but it did not work for me.

I also have the best luck on PvE with mostly Assault marines to go with my Dev.
