Traditionally, Dark Angels have been Stubborn or Intractable, which (in their respective editions) meant that a unit of Dark Angels that failed morale would just stand and shoot more, or that Dark Angels were one step off from being altogether Fearless. They've also had more plasma in their army, and in 3rd were the only Marines who could get plasma cannons in Tactical Squads, at least initially.

The army still works as a general Marine army served by elite bikers and slightly better than average Terminators, or as armies consisting exclusively of one or both of those last two elements. This is something intrinsic to the character of the army and is what makes them special, even if all-Terminator or all-biker armies have been co-opted by Space Wolves and Grey Knights for the former, and Space Marines for the latter. This won't change for the DA, and is probably the only thing you can really count on for the next codex.

The newest rumor from Hastings is that DA is slated for November, which seems awful soon but I'd like to see.

IIRC, it's been mentioned on Warseer that the back page of the Sept WD has a picture of Dark Angels on it... Hinting at perhaps October as the new codex?! >.> (god damnit we so need a 'shifty sideways glance' orkmoticon!!! )

Thus, the lastest rumor crop would have the upcoming releases being;
Sept - 40k Core Set + BA & Eldar finecast waves (confirmed via WD leaks)
Oct - Codex Dark Angels (rumored due to the back cover of sept WD featuring DA's)
Nov - Warhammer Armies: Warriors of Chaos (Harry's hinted at this for a good while now and he seems pretty damn certain about it)
Dec - usual Xmas bundles & The Hobbit game (we know the xmas stuff is 100% certain obviously!)
Jan - Codex Chaos Space Marines (if they were coming in sept, the WD would have been choc full of chaosy goodness beyond just the core set...)

Take with salt, but that's what the whispering in my ear is telling me!

I think the DA on the back cover is just advertising a part 2 for their starter set coverage. Some people still say September for CSM; I'm thinking October if we're being optimistic and November for DA, as I heard.

I keep hearing October/September Chaos Space marines and Warriors of Chaos respectively. Then November/December Hobbit something or other and DA.

I highly doubt CSM's are September... GW have never done a codex release that wasn't plastered front & center and repeated at least ten times throughout the that month's WD issue!
As for a 'part 2' of the core set coverage, I'd think if that were true they'd have also snuck a chaos marine onto the back page?! (and all indications/descriptions so far say it's just DA's o nthe back page)

I'd love to see CSM's get their new codex asap! As the army is so boring and over-costed at the moment that's it's gone well beyond depressing and into the realms of 'GWs worst joke ever!'

However, I still think it'll be DA's up first since they are Space Marines and also the 'new' poster boys for 40k 6th edition. IIRC, since the creation of the codicies, a Space Marine book of some kind has always been the first new codex out of the gate - am I right?!
