Maybe the campaign's fluff writers could simply average out victories/losses throughout a team to help "balance" the numbers.
aka: 100 (order) people play. 76 win 34 lose. That makes an 76:34 ratio.
50 (other) people play. 40 win 10 lose. That makes an 80:20 ratio putting them in the lead.
They would require fewer wins to pull ahead but they would also require fewer losses to fall behind.
