The meltas are yet to really come in their own against multiwound models, but I was actually able to hit and wound his Obliterator when it charged them, and if he didn't make his 5++ he would have been vaped! I only use GLs in one of my PCSs because they're cheap and it's decent to have a small squad of them running around. They're not dangerous enough to scare anybody, but they've got the range to put some extra fire down from behind a blob squad. I'm eagerly anticipating the day where they glance a Rhino to death or something. Plasma is awesome, but there's no Valhallan plasma gunner model and I don't feel like converting a bunch up. I'd want to keep my blobs mobile and potentially charging and my PCSs cheap and innocuous.

Yeah that's how it goes. PCS's have always been tricky to run because you either keep them "useless" so they don't get shot, or try to make them useful, only for them to get blasted off the board turn one. I'm almost to the point of just putting a mortar on them and hiding them on objectives.
Keep using the meltas though. They're one of those things you won't truly appreciate till they're gone. Take GL's one game and you'll see what I mean. In my meta at least, it's meltas, or die trying.

Well, I'll be taking a melta PCS with Al'Raheim, outflanking in a Chimera along with two flamer infantry squads in Chimeras as well, but I think that'll be the only expensive PCS I plan on running! A mortar wouldn't be a bad idea for one, but I use FRFSRF so much these days I wouldn't want to have them so far back.

I was just going to hide them behind a tank and keep them close to a blob as well. FRFSRF is one of the only orders that doesnt require line of sight as far as I can tell. Same for incoming.

Very interesting battle, I really like the story you had going on while the battle was raging. Pictures represented the battle well, and overall it was a good fight, with victory for the Valhallans well deserved.
