Chris Christie is kind of famous for really, really loving Bruce Springsteen. On the one hand, a big fat guy going along to a concert and giving one gak about who sees him dancing is awesome. And a really proud son of New Jersey loving an artist who is also a New Jersey native is cool.
But then there's the weirdness of what Bruce Springsteen sings about, and what Christie's political beliefs put forward. Springsteen has repeatedly snubbed Christie's efforts to formally meet.
Unlike the nincompoops that used Born in the USA for Reagan's campaign, Christie does actually know the lyrics to Springsteen's songs. Probably the lyrics to every Springsteen song, if the extent of his geekishness is to be believed. But he then interprets those lyrics in a way that is frankly just plain weird. It kind of reminds me of the way some Christians will pick out bits of the bible as single lines, ignore all the rest and come up with a series of moral convictions that appear to have next to nothing to do with helping the poor.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something. |

I say it all the time. I'm also a fan of the phrases "righteous kill", "egregious bastard", and "silly rabbit."

I truly hope this does not become a Dakka meme.
Joking aside, though: Kiss sucks. I'm sure they put on a fantastic live show, but that doesn't change the fact that they're basically the Doodlebops.

It may not be Dakka's meme but it's mine.
Wow the doodlebops, that's rough. You don't like I was made for loving you or Detroit Rock city? Maybe Strutter? I mean Kiss doesnt even make it into my consideration of favorite bands but I respect thier talent.

I generally find their songs inane, repetitive and altogether too long for what limited lyrics they have; and I view their primary talent as their ability to find a way to plaster their faces onto every single product imaginable.
