Depends a great deal on what kind of stock you are raising. Free range cattle have little to fear from coyotes; same same on adult pigs. Sheep, goats, turkeys, and chicken need to be protected. Ostriches are almost immune to predation, it happens but lets face it there aren't many predators that are both fast enough and big enough to tackle them. and llamas or alpacas seeded with sheep scare off lone and paired wolves.

I've never understood why there is such an outcry against slaughtering horses.

There are way too many horses in the country, both domestic and feral. a cull is the only humane option, otherwise these horses will suffer from starvation/neglect.

All those Horse lovers can shove it, there are too many horses and not enough people with the time or money to care for them.


Horses provide meat, not great for humans I'll grant. its quite disgusting, I can testify. But its perfectly fine for animal consumption. And some people actually do like the meat so there is certaintly a market for it.

Horse hides can also make good leather.

I liked the taste.

Maybe its better if the Horse was younger, but given that horses that get slaughtered are usually old and spent(or sick) I can't imagine the Horse thats commonly avaliable in places is going to be young.
