this sound incredibly familiar to a tourney i participated in.... are you near the greater Kansas city area by chance? If So I ironically may know exactly who you are talking about
the guy made the same arguements and fast talked ALOT saying that because the head of his troopers could see me that i would have no cover saves while meanwhile taking 2+ or impossible to see shots. It was incredibly annoying to play the guy constantly was changing his story for
LOS which is fine i know exactly how it worked but he would argue things like
"Well you measure your shot from your guns but
LOS from anywhere on the model" eventually i was ready to rip him in half because the guy was not just being
TFG he was also antagonizing me during my rounds demanding I hurry up and smashing down on any mix up he might of seen trying to get me disqualified for anything he could. Eventually because of all his confrontation and doucheness i looked him dead in the eyes angry as a hornet and said
"you know what man, i am a very causal gamer and i understand we are in a tourney but you know what? You've done nothing but piss on my face and offer no sportsmanship for the last hour... so guess what... now everytime you shoot, move or assualt you are going to find me rules for each action you do. Because you have fast talked me so much and denied me so much i think it's only fair to make you prove everything you are saying. Guess it wasn't worth pushing me for speed all this time now was it?" He refused of course which i asked a
TO to watch the match and they agreed the guy was doing nothing but bending rules and needlessly provoking me into ending my rounds premature he agreed with my decision to make this guy prove every rule and every action even though the
TO would have been able to quote them off the top of his head.
My point is you are going to run into people who abuse a rule as long as they can an then you will run into people who make you hate the game for those exact reasons they are very distinct in their differences someone saying "Ya know i think according to
LOS rules you can't shoot me would you like to look it up?" and "Ha, no you can't shoot any of my guys i dunno what you were F**ing thinking! ha!"
As far as my understanding, yeah
ADL is an amazing 50 pts to spend because of
LOS, it should be very rare to not be able to see models with
IG but i know a lot of people who model for success in subtle ways... all the lowest kneeling or belly firing models they can get and for that I apologize I would suggest asking for a roll off to at least make the shot because the bits easily allow you to see them if properly set up for heavy weapons teams. Ask for a roll off and if it would be okay if you could change your target because of that. If they don't let you... prepare to turn into just as big of a jerk
