He didn't do much of that in his two Conan films.
The new one actually had way more boobs in it.

I thought the soundtrack and Mako's narration did 75% of the work in making the first one epic. I enjoyed the new one, but like a lot of modern remakes/updates they can do wonders with CG, make it closer to the source material, etc.
But it just ain't got the same soul.

I am a massive fan of the original, not because it's hard core canon, nor because Arnold made a spitting image of Conan, but because it was just amazingly passionate film making, had a great crew, and amazing score.
Milius really gave a crap about making something outstanding, and the whole crew was with him. It's easy to see it in the first film.
Momoa, in my opinion didn't give two craps about the role and it showed. He also looked less like Conan and more like a geedee 80's glam rocker. The story made me seriously wonder if they forgot to finish writing it.
Here is to hoping for a more serious rendition with the new one.

I have Conan the Barbarian on my Sky box so I can re watch it, it's a good movie, but he's 65 now, and reboots haven't been going well recently IMHO ...
However I love conan, I even just discovered one of the bookshops in town has the reprints of the comics, I got "The Monster of the Monoliths, and other stories" but never got to see the Mamoa as Conan, He's a great actor, but was it really that bad?
No.
The majority of complaints about it can be boiled down to the same thing for 40k:
They took a relatively..."fantastic" setting and tried to make it serious.
It was no worse than the Arnold films were imo.
Arnie says 39 lines in Conan. It's perfect. The new one is much worse, because its not campy or fun.
