Plague Marines are traps. They trade killing power for durability in a codex that is offensively focused. You can have the most durability in the world, but if your opponent can still kill you, then there's no point really. Focus on killing the enemy.

That is why you run them MSU style with dual special weapons. Either 2x melta or 2x plasma. Very killy, you either go tank hunting or troop hunting depending on the load out.

In my personal experience playing against Plague Marines, they are definitely hard to kill. My usual chaos opponent fields them with a Heldrake, Termies, and Landraider, and some Daemon allies.

The problem he has every game is that they are slow. I usually beat him simply because I can get to the objectives before he does and he can't knock me off of them. It's probably their one downside.

They are no slower than any other troop choice. The only slow poke troops for Chaos are rubrics.
Sounds more like a tactical or deployment issue to me.

Also, having daemon allies gives you up to two deepstriking, tough troops choices. That's got to help.

I am actually going to be bringing some daemonettes and flamers for allies, along with Bloodthrister

Sounds solid to me. Easily three of the best units from the codex.

Um, Rubrics aren't slow. They get to move their full 6" every turn. Just can't run.

Anyway, PM are a moving gunline unit. They aren't designed to assault. They go second to everything except Necrons in assault. So you want to rapid fire with them. They're built, almost *specifically* I think, to accept charges and survive. And No, not against MCs that can ID them. But against almost everything else, they take charges even better than most flopping NBA players.

So, shoot them, let them charge you, shoot them again rapid firing when they charge, then probably live through their charge. Counter charge with whatever Assault units you have.

The comment about them being better in close combat than berserkers made me shudder. I guess it's kinda true though.. in some respects. They are also like 5 points more though, so it's really not too fair to compare them. it's too bad berserkers are so darn expensive.

24 point marines are sorta a big expense though. Thank god they get that extra weapon at 5 or they would only ever be scoring.

They are very good at playing the old MSU way, and let me tell you there has never been a better candidate for the power axe but you might find you want some faster or more robust scoring options for forward in the field in a lot of missions. They just eat shots and do MSU well, they cost about right, they aren't really all that much better than having the same points worth of other troop options except that the not worrying about morale is pretty nice.

It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax...
