My vampires generally end up fighting a lot of other characters with silly high armor saves. I tend to go with the high strength only because of that.

Eating through rank and file is nice, but if I get to that stage its probably a won combat reguardless.

Well see, that still depends on what you will be facing. If your opponent goes for a lot of weaker characters (say, a goblin army), and you have something to deal with tough monsters like Arachnoroks (say a Terrorgheist or two), then more attacks is probably going to be better than higher strength. You're not slamming through a super tough, super expensive lord, you're hacking your way through lots of weaker characters.

Yeah, the matchup thing is definitely a consideration for me. I play in a fairly large club that has a lot of Fantasy players and almost every army is represented, so my matchups are going to vary greatly. I've faced enough low toughness armies recently, though, to warrant the curiosity about extra attacks.
