I would say if you taking Wings, which why wouldn't you, then Slaanesh is probably the best option.

Well, DP's are already hitting @ Int. 8. If Sigil of Corruptionion isn't picked I'd go with a Daemon of Nurgle.

That said, I don't like expensive LD9 pyskers.

That's why you give him the familiar.
Rerolling Psy tests seems solid.

I dont know why you're bringing up initiative since all CSM DPs have I 8 no matter what since they dont get marks. Also DPs cannot take special issue wargear therefore no sigil. Finally a DP cannot take both the burning brand and the black mace for two reasons, the DP only has one weapon to trade and a model can only take one chaos artifact.

Daemon of Nurgle is a terrible choice for a FMC. You rarely get cover as a FMC and already have a 5++. If you dive to get Jink you cant shoot the Burning Brand and if you are grounded you dont get to Dive. If you get into assault you will most likely win combat (by alot if you have the mace), and unless your opponent is fearless they will likely break. If that happens you cant sweep. Odds are good that if the first round of combat goes well (better than average) for a DP of Nurgle, it will be sitting in the open without finishing off a unit. It's also too slow without wings.

A DP of Tzeentch on the other hand always gets its benefit (well if you roll a one on a save) and has no downside.

A DP of Slaanesh a fast bugger with or without wings. 88.89% chance of running 6" or more on the ground and over 92% chance of "running" 9" or more in the air.

I would never take the Axe if going the Khorne route. First off the Mace is flat out better in the hands of a DP. Secondly the WS 9 is very important to keep as marines would hit you on a 5+.

The discussion abut black mace is AP 4 or AP 2 being wielded by a DP still goes on.
In our RTTs, we'll handle it like this: black mace is AP4 but if combined with smash its AP 2.

Just what is so hard for some people to understand?

It's absolutely 100% ap2. By the logic of people who say it's ap4 a Daemon Prince with a close combat weapon is ap-.

No, nay, niet, nein, non, níl. It's ap2, let there be no more said ever again.

The point is that you can't combine the effects of two weapons. A Sergeant can decide to take his cc weapon or an upgraded special weapon like power weapon.

Read the Smash rule again. Its says all CC attacks made by the MC are AP2, unless a weapon would make it AP1. Therefore, if a MC has a melee weapon, its AP is irrelevant unless its AP1.

Semi related: I'd really like to see them faq aura of dark glory to improve the princes invuln(you can buy it after all, make it work like mot). The static 5++ and lack of ew is really ruining my enjoyment of csm.

It just means the DP works different then he did before. This game is all about adapting.
