Painting day today. Why must it take so long for each layer to dry. yesterdays kan is nearly complite and ive now begun work on a couple more scenic bases, again im waiting for stuff to dry. Think i will try and finish one of the bikers in the drying time

Things progressed nicely with the first kann, all finished off and armed up according to what i think he should have. Sadly the IG sentinels are only available single models, so i cant realy afford to make the three strong unit of them, so its only one sentinle spread out over several kannz-should be good.

Love the Baneblade with the Battlewagon on top. The side door really fits in nicely with the design and makes it look like a real battle fortress. I'd like to see more shots of the Baneblade and the flyer from different angles.

One thing though: For a Deathskull army I don't see a lot of looted things. If I could get away from my Evil Suns red I'd barely use regular Ork vehicles at all.

Ok here it is, i belive the first thunder-ork conversion step by step guide. It may seem lengthy but i figured everyone is at diffrent levels in the hobby so this instruction set should work for everyone. Also with a few tweaks this is easly a spacemarine thunderhawk. Im a little dyslexic so dont worry too much about my spelling. Please leave a comment if this is of any use to you and any pics of built thunder-orks. Lets try and keep the name as its pretty cool too. Should this project be a bit hard for anyone i will happily do the build for you.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The kits ive used are at the moment two stormravens and a marine vanquisher, tho i imagine towards the end of the build i will have used diffrent orky kitz

Automatically Appended Next Post:

stage one, get out them ravens and build to the instructions on the first page, missing out the parts where my thumb is and the part ive coverd over.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Providing you have not fethed up stage one you should have this infront of you. Also i should have mentioned im using the humbrol glue with the needle on it. Defo recomend it.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The sections where the lights go i left open, being an orky machine i figured they would rather have more gunz than being able to see there target. The doors will be left open till the detail stage, depending on what you go for they will realy personalise the kit for you.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

ONLY on ONE of the kits glue this section to the base

Automatically Appended Next Post:

The two sections are now going to be glued together, i did snip a couple of interior details to get a even edge to glue together.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Glued, there will be a couple of upside down skulls to snip away at a later date. you will know whitch ones when you do the build.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Ok, now put the ravens parts to one side and get out this box

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Build to this stage using the gwinstructions, however dont put in the inner doors as the extra armour wont glue on properly, perhaps the instructions are a little off from gw?

Automatically Appended Next Post:

continue building to gw instructions to this stage, then stop. have a little break as them glue fumes will be makeing you high

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Just a little reference on where things will be going and should be at this stage. Next up will be using the razor saw to do some serious remodeling

I never considered mashing to Stormravens together like this. Looks promising, keep it up.

There is much i can teach you, young padawan

Automatically Appended Next Post:

grab your vanquisher, cut away the section that is behind the saw. this should be a clean 90 degree cut. On a side note you may feel like a boss with a power klaw muchin threw umie tanks.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

next up were going to remove the rear section from one of the ravens. Again this is done in a 90 degree fashon.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Glue the two sections together, this then makes the body of the thunder-ork. Be carefull as to the height of where the wheels are, they should be just below the top of the model. At a later date the wheel section will be boxed in and it should all sit flush. This is very tecnical by orky standards.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Enableing a level finish i found it easyer to line up two existing sections of the ravens body with two fixed points on the vanquisher.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

As all of the main body is glued together, whyle the glue dryes ive built up some of the smaller sub assemblys. starting with the tail section. Just build them and pop them to one side for now.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

no surprises hear, this is the tail section

Automatically Appended Next Post:

There is only two wings required, one for each side. these are just built from gw instructions.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Again only two engines are needed, built as per gw instructions.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Thats the wings, done.

Won't the wings be too short for the final model once you're done?

onto fixin the wings, step one. Remove the exhausts from the vindi, Also take off the raised detail arount the area, i think it was ike two small rectangles of plastic. Then give it a little tidy up with a sharp knife

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Remove what i would call the spare flap, on the right of the photo. then alighn the square with the square area on the vindi, Glue sandwitch and one wings done.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

repeat with both sides and hold in place untill dry. This is where a good quality glue is important. now the model is realy starting to take on some shape

Automatically Appended Next Post:

If you followed the instructions clearly, the result will impress everyone. Guaranteed

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Feel free at this point to make areoplane noises and fly this into peoples heads

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Timw foor something a little more skilled. take the spare ravens top tail section, cut it in half. Down the middle. Place one of the pieces onto some plastic card to draw around to make a template, Ive used four pieces from the plasticard, each piece is 2mm thick. Glue the pieces together, so you start with four bits then end up with two at 4mm thick. These are going to be the stablser wings near the fromt on the craft.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Automatically Appended Next Post:

ok, so hear is exactly where they will sit

Automatically Appended Next Post:

next section. build up two more wings. However dont add the warheads into front, as later on we can add a bit of dakka. however do put in the ends of the mistle pod

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Remove the flaps that are behind the saw.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

glue your baby wings onto the daddy wings like this.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

A close up of where to sit the wings, i found lineing them up with the lower section of the vindis exhausts looks good, and theres a little more to glue too

Automatically Appended Next Post:
With the wings firmly in place its time to move onto the tail section. Grab the tail that was built earlyer, then remove the section under the saw.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

This bit will require some measurement. cut some plasti card to fill in the section that is the top of the thunder-ork, glue it too the top of the vindi wheels. you may need diffrent sized card depending on where the wheels sit, but should ultimatley sit level with the top of the craft.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

If everything was measured correctly, glue the tail in place.

Thanks again to anyone leaving comments. Ive also got my first ultra marine thunderhawk to build for someone. should be a good chalange, as the marine variant will have sharp crips lines whear as this ork variant is going to be a more scrappy look, as if the orks have looted it.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Work todate.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

More sub-assemblys next. This order is for the cockpit. It should be easy enuf to find the spare bits to make this section. Dont glue in any weapons as later were going to add some more orky gunz in there. Ive removed the front aquila with a knife and glued over a bit of plasti card to the entire section. Try mixeing up the plasticard as this will give you lots of diffrent details and make the model more looted.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Build up the gun, that is used by the servitor. Ive opted to keep the laz gunz, personal choice. Dont worry about the interiors.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Glue the two sub assemblys to the front of the craft.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

This little section is a little more time consuming. by makeing a housing fot the top of the vindi you hide all the traks and bring the whole back section together. Ive used the top of a gun section from the ork battle wagon. build this as normal around the outsides and cut off the bottom so it sits flush, dont glue the top section on as you need to do some fiddly work on it

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also now is as good a time as any to pull the top set of wings into the model by laying plasti card. 1mm thick to fill the wing gaps as you can see above

Automatically Appended Next Post:

heres a close up of the zap gun, ive cut it and added a length of plastic tubeing to make the barrel. glueing the end of the zap gun to the end of the barrel.

ive tidy up the underside of the thunder-ork. This is fairly straight foreward to do, just bung up any holes with plasticard and any bitz you have in your bitz box

Automatically Appended Next Post:

let the fun begin, Its time to build up all of the dakka-dakka gubbinz. Raid you bitz box and get out anything shooty or blowy upy. Theres all the stuff from a ork bommer/dakka jet hear.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

As a rule of thumb i put the biggest bombs on the rear of the craft. The mistles sit nicely under the steadying wings and the shooters have been put into the top set of wings, remember when i said leave the mistles out, that was why-twin linked shootas.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
At the moment you may have notices that the armour plate look stuck on. My current project hear is to greenstuff weld each plat onto the ship. This will take ages so i may be gone some time. Theres plenty of tuts on how to make the welds, just search in google for them if your stuck.I would say at this stage you can start to build up your model with the instructions so far. Ive only the welding, adding more armour plates, battle damage, building more dakk, primeing, building a base, painting, weathering and varnishing then its job done. Oh and makeing some gunz that are where the doors are.

as the project has progreses i noticed the tail section is much heavyer than the front. in order to get the craft to sit on a flyingbase ive made two circles, one on the craft and the other on top of the flying base, this will give me a larger area to glue the two sections together.
