Aegis line assumes your opponent isnt mobile at all. Thats my main problem with it. BA, DE, IG, other eldar, demons, Crons, nids, podding SW, even chaos now all have competitively played ways of maneuvering around the line to deny cover to the war walkers. Ruins are nice, but are often small and small in quantity meaning you dont have shots on the whole board and cant sit more than one unit in them. Seriously, pod in a 10 man sternguard unit, combat squad it, then obliterate the walkers with combi weapons.
Area terrain giving a 4+ was huge since trees can often block multiple sides to a model and make flanking to deny cover tricky if not futile. Now you deal with 5+ which is big since fortune is less effective combined with being a worse save on its own.

I agree, but an all comers list may not have a drop pod of Sternguard. I'm not saying its the best thing ever, and they only really need 3 turns or so of shooting to cripple another army.

Pods drop 1st turn. Sternguard cam be replaced with pretty much anything in a pod just as an example. DE can turbo 1st turn with raiders then shoot with the dark lance or disintigrator. BA very commonly combat squad melta assault squads and deepstrike them along with maybe a stormraven or two. IG have vendettas, marbo, and deepstriking stormies. Eldar have jetbikes, large access to divination for ignore cover, FD exarch on quad gun with crack shot, and a bunch of other tricks. Demons have flying MCs that can fire backwards after flying over on turn 1. Crons have scythes, nids have flying MCs with even better ranged weapons vs AV10 (12 S6 TL shots) along with possibly raveners. SW have anything podded, land speeders, TW cav, or even bikers depending on your army loadout. Chaos have both the helldrake with S7 vector and S6 flamer or biker spam that closes so fast you get maybe 1-2 turns before they are gone. All of these are in the tournament scene often if not every single list of that army. Therefore its hard to say "well they may not have a solution".

2x wraithlord
Sprinkle in upgrades as needed, the wraithlords take a hell of a beating in the first couple turns, while everything else moves up/ kills troops. Hawks skyleap around dropping templates, Spiders DS in and str6 a tank to death. Enemy psykers hate the farseers, and guide and doom just make things more fun.
Most people will talk about warwalkers, but the few times I've used them, they generally get blasted before doing anything, so I decided to go with no armor at all and have been pretty successful.
Warwalkers need to be in cover (preferably ruins) with a farseer to cast fortune on them. They then become frustratingly hard to eliminate. And six scatter lasers with guide are basically eliminating entire units every turn. Bring war walkers in all your heavy slots for extra lulz and toss in Eldrad for extra buffs.
Fortuning Warwalkers? This would be too much. Stick them into cover. The squadron rules make them better than in the 5th. But if they go down, let them, don't care.
I have to disagree. Fortuned & guided scatterwalkers are exceptional! I want my dakka to last the game after all.

How much is a drop pod full of sternguard?
Is it more than 180pts?
That doesn't seem like a great unit trade if it is
On another note - what tricks do people do with eldar?
Anything you do as a matter of course if the timings right?
One of my favourite situational's is if I get first turn. Take two fire prisms and put them at the front of the deployment zone on one flank - laugh as your opponant deploys entirely down the opposite flank.
Then use Eldrads divination to swap flanks with the tanks and shoot him first turn anyway...while you force him to deploy into a nice kill zone.

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives. |

If you are in the mood for some shenaningans then just buy the landing pad. 75pts for an elevated position and a 4++ on 9 war walker? Yes please.

Regardless of your solution, the warwalkers are dictating the actions of the enemy, as they are something that *must* be addressed. You can plan on this and babysit them with some fire dragons too. So come on down, Mr. Monstrous Flyer!
It's not like the Eldar are in a rush to actually go anywhere until the warwalkers have crippled the enemy anyway. So you'll have plenty of babysitting units.
